Taxes not being withheld after updating

We just updated our payroll to the 2021 version and now there are no withholdings or taxes being taken out. We have tried everything and checked each employee to make sure they are set up in the system correctly as well. Still nothing. Any ideas?

Taxes not being withheld after updating

It's nice to see you here in the Community forum, @GandP.

I'm glad to hear that you've already downloaded the latest payroll tax table in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) as well as reviewing your employee's payroll information.

I have some other steps that you can perform to ensure taxes are deducted on the paycheck by reverting your employee's paycheck. This is to refresh your payroll information and for the taxes to calculate.

Here's how:

  1. Open your employee's Payroll Information.
  2. Right-click the name of your employee/s that’s highlighted in yellow.
  3. Choose Revert Paycheck

You can also visit below articles for more information about paychecks calculation in QBDT:

Keep me posted if you need further assistance when working in QuickBooks. I’m more than happy to help. Have a good one.

Taxes not being withheld after updating

I have had this problem a couple of times now.  My Direct Deposit is canceled and I am writing checks.

However when I go to do my payroll the current taxes are not being withheld.

Taxes not being withheld after updating

I've recently renewed my subscription and now none of the taxes are being withheld. I have also done payroll updates, but still no taking out taxes. What should I do?

I'm here to ensure accurate tax calculations for your payroll, @Freeman1.

Now that you've completed the payroll updates, we can revert the paychecks to apply these changes.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Go to the Employees menu and click Pay Employee.
  2. Choose either Scheduled Payroll or Unscheduled Payroll.
  3. Select Resume Scheduled Payroll. Employees with changes will have their names highlighted in yellow.
  4. Right-click on the highlighted employee's name.
  5. Check the Revert Paychecks option.

For more detailed instructions on saving or reverting paychecks, please refer to this article: Save or revert paychecks in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

If you need reports to track and review your employee's payroll transactions, you can check out this resource: Customize payroll and employee reports.
