Why are my quarterly forms not ready yet?

I'll share the possible scenarios regarding your "quarterly forms" concern and the details on how to fix them, @soloved85

If you're trying to file your federal Form 941 for Q2 2020, this is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We're still waiting for the finalized form from the IRS to ensure the accuracy of the information. They have added new fields to it, such as Line 5a (i) Qualified sick leave wages. To learn more about how the program populates the lines on the return, check out this article: 941 Overview. Then, go to the lines with "New" as the initial word.

I assure you that we're actively working to provide the form timely. We'll also send updates once the form is ready in QBO through this article: Forms Unavailable In QBO. You can bookmark the site for easy access in the future. Aside from 941, you'll see the other forms that are unavailable at this time. These are WY Payment Coupon & WY0056 and STT Coupon & Filing

In case you want to submit the form now, I recommend manually filing it to the IRS. Before that, you can run and print the two payroll reports to serve as your reference. These are Payroll Tax Liability and Tax and Wage Summary. Just select Last quarter (Apr-Jun) in the Date Range drop-down. Here's a sample screenshot of how it looks like. Then, use the IRS 941 PDF return so you can manually enter the information from there. After that, click the Download or Print icon.

If you're trying to file your state quarterly forms that aren't included in the "Forms Unavailable" article, the browser's stored cache may be full. It can cause unusual behavior in the program, that's why you're unable to view them.

First, I'd suggest logging into your QBO account using a private browser. It doesn't store data in the cache. Thus, it's a great way to isolate browser-related issues. Here are the keyboard shortcuts depending on the browser you're using:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N

From there, go back to the Quarterly Forms page from the Payroll Tax Center. If you're able to view the forms, let's clear your browser's cache to have a clean slate. This way, it'll function efficiently. If private browsing doesn't work, use other supported browsers to get the best and most secure experience with the program.

Once fixed, you'll have the option to file the forms electronically or manually. If e-filed, these will be automatically archived. Otherwise, you can archive them to save as your record in QBO.

Lastly, I recommend visiting this website: Payroll Tax Compliance Links. It provides you in-depth details about the federal and state rules and regulations to ensure we're compliant with them.

You can count on me if there's anything else you need. Keep safe always, @soloved85

Why are my quarterly forms not ready yet?

Why won't the 941 report let me print a "Zero" report. It tells me I have no employees, but we are still required to file with the IRS.
