This issue has been ongoing now for 13 months with no resolution.  When will QB address and fix this known issue?

This isn't the kind of experience we want you to have when paying contractors with direct deposit in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @AccountingInATL. That's why I'm here to guide you on the actions you need to take care of this matter.

The investigation mentioned above was already been closed and resolved. This Something's not quite right error message can sometimes be caused by the browser's overtime collection of data from frequent page visits. To isolate this matter, you can perform some troubleshooting steps.

You can start by pulling up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome)
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox)
  • Control Option (Safari)

Once signed in, go to the Payroll menu and pay your contractor with direct deposit. If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performances issue. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.

Also, you can set up your contractors as vendors and tracks all their related payments so when you need to file their 1099s in QuickBooks. To help you prepare your 1099s during tax season, I encourage you to check out this article: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.

Should you have other concerns about paying contractors with direct deposit, please let me know in the comments below. I'm just around to help. Take care and stay safe.

"Something's not quite right" message when clicking on pay contractor with direct deposit. Why would this happen?

the fact that people are STILL unable to pay contractors after YEARS is completely unacceptable. it's obvious that QBO is not going to or is unable to fix this. Why don't you just take it away and let everyone know it's not an actual thing? super lame!!!
