Hi user20432!
I have some steps I'd like you to perform so you can update the employee from hourly to salaried.
First, let's use an incognito window and update it from there. Here are some of the keyboard shortcuts:
Incognito won't save site data that causes issues. Also, let's clear the cache to fix errors caused by this junk file. Lastly, make sure that the browser is up-to-date cause older versions may result in unusual behaviors too.
I've added a link you can check: Payroll and salaried employees. This will answer the most common questions about salaried employees.
Please feel free to post any questions you have below. I'm here to help. Thanks!
@AlexV
I'm having the same problem as the original poster. I went through all of the steps you mentioned and I still cannot get the employee to switch from hourly to salary. As soon as I hit "save" when putting in all the salary information, it reverts back to hourly.
Anything else I can try?
Thanks!
I'm here to help ensure you're able to update and save your employee's pay type from hourly to salary, MJW3.
To better isolate the issue, I'd suggest creating a dummy or sample employee, add a pay type and then save. Here's how:
Once added, edit the sample employee's payroll information and update the pay type from there from hourly to salary. If you're able to change their pay type, go back to your main employee and modify their information.
However, if you're still unable to update their pay type, I'd recommend getting in touch with our QuickBooks Online Support to have this investigated. You can use our live messaging option from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM from Monday to Friday.
To ensure we address your concern on time, check out our support hours. Here's how to get in touch or chat with us:
1. Click the Help (?) icon.
2. Choose Contact Us.
3. Enter a brief description of your situation in the What can we help you with? area, then click Let's talk.
4. You'll be presented with a few options for connecting with Intuit. Select Chat with us.
To help you track your business and payroll finances, you can go through this article: Run payroll reports. This will provide you several payroll reports you can use to view useful information as well as what report to pull up that shows the employee's total pay by pay type. On the same link, you'll find steps on how to customize and print them in QuickBooks Online.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me again if there's anything else I can help you with. Thanks for reaching out, wishing you and your business all the best!
