Thanks for the reply, but I don't have that tab. I just received an email from Intuit saying that I was sent a 1099 form from a previous employer.
Thanks for getting back to us here, @vlgualtieri-gmai.
I have some information about getting the clients tab in your account. What you receive is a notification email about your 1099 form. Once your employer has submitted it, you'll be able to find the clients tab.
To isolate this, once you click on the email link you'll be prompted to log in. Just make sure you're using the correct login credentials.
Please refer to Step 4: View your 1099-MISC at this link: Fill out a W-9 and view your 1099-MISC in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Keep me posted if you still have questions or concerns with 1099s. I'm always here for you. Take care and have a lovely day ahead.
Thank you so much for the speedy responses! I did receive an email about my 1099 form, when I clicked on the button that said "view your 1099" I got a message that the invitation had expired (see screenshot). Is this the only way to get my 1099? Will it be mailed to be as well?
Thanks for coming back and providing us a screenshot that helps us better isolate the issue, vlgualtieri-gmai.
When the invitation expires, we'll need to inform your employer or client to send again the invitation. This way you can click on the link in the email you receive and you'll be redirected to log in to your account to access the 1099's. Here's how:
For more details about this one, see the Fill out a W-9 and view your 1099-MISC in QuickBooks Self-Employed article. You can also request them to mail you the 1099 form wherein they can print it or send the PDF file copy of it.

I'd like to know how things going after contacting your client, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Just reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.
Yeah, my employer sent the 1099, I got the notification from Quickbooks telling me to log in to download it, I log in, there's not document tab, there's no client tab, my employer is insisting it was sent to the IRS and that's why I got the notification. What the heck is going on over there? I've never had so many issues with intuit than I'm having this year. I just want to get my taxes ready to file.
Thanks for joining this thread, @mainemusicmaker.
Can you share with me a screenshot of what you're seeing in your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account? This would help me identify its cause and provide you a proper solution.
For now, I recommend opening the link in a private window. This way, we can check if it's a browser-related issue. Sometimes, too much cache build up in your regular browser can cause unexpected behavior in the product. Simply follow these steps:
If you're able to see the Clients menu, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. You can also use another supported browser to access your email and open the link.
If you're still getting the same issue, I'd recommend asking your employer to contact our QuickBooks Customer Support Team. This way, they can review your account and trace its cause.

Nowhere is there a spot to get my 1099 - and my employer just verified that she's received notification from the IRS that the info was accepted on 1/31/21.
Thanks for getting back to us here in the Community and the additional details (screenshot) you've provided above, @mainemusicmaker. This way, I can guide you on the actions you need to take care of the issue.

how do i find QBSE itself for me to go to the client's tab. I cannot find it
ED F
Hi there, @ED F.
I'll help you locate the Clients menu in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).
Once your employer or client invites you to fill out your W-9, you will receive an invite to your email. You'll have to click this link attached to it to fill out your W-9 form.
This will automatically route you to your QBSE account and should see the Clients tab. See the screenshot below for your reference.
In case you're still unable to see this menu, I'd recommend asking your employer to invite you again. This time, use another email address and make sure to fill out the form before the link expires.
You can also read this guide about 1099s in QuickBooks Self-Employed. This will give more details on how to access your W-9 info and 1099 form.
Please know that our doors are always open to help you with any QuickBooks-related concerns. Take care and enjoy the day!
