Hi, @biu0218. I can share some troubleshooting steps so you can print your Balance Sheet report in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

The error you're getting might be affected by your browser's cache. For now, I'd recommend running your report through a private window to isolate the issue. It allows you to browse the web without saving your browsing history. To bring one up, follow these steps:

 

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift 
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift 
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

 

If it works, clear the cache of your main browser to remove browser history. You can also use other supported browsers to narrow down the result.

 

Just in case you're getting the same result after trying to run the report as suggested, I'd recommend checking your retained earnings history to spot the root cause of the issue.

 

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Click on Accounting on the left pane, then Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the Retained Earnings account.
  4. Tick the Run Report from the Action column.
  5. From the Report period, click on All Dates.
  6. Hit Run report.

Welcome to the Community, Watsonjohn2234. I'd be more than happy to share some information about getting started in QuickBooks.

 

As a rule of thumb, actions taken in your books should only reflect what's happening in real life. This applies to everything, such as transactions, making deposits, entering sales, etc.

 

While some tasks can be done primarily through QuickBooks, like sending invoices, much of what you'll record are activities done outside of your books.

 

Specifying the company's information is an important step initially, because it's used to automatically populate data onto invoices and other sales forms you send to customers.

 

You can access your Account and settings menu by using the Gear (⚙️) icon at the top-right, then selecting Account and settings.

 

Once you've reached your account preferences screen, check the Company name and Contact info sections for accuracy.

 

To edit this information, click your section's Pencil (✏️) icon, make the necessary changes, then select Save.

 

Next, confirm your Company type area has the appropriate Tax form and Industry listed.

 

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) will be required when making changes to details in your Company type area. If you need help identifying which of these you'll need for the business, I'd recommend working with an accounting professional or getting in touch with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

 

You can follow Intuit's detailed process for configuring account settings by following the processes outlined in our Getting Started article.

 

You'll also want to familiarize yourself with the layout of QuickBooks:

  • Your Dashboard displays an interactive snapshot of the business, featuring your invoice tracker, sales, expenses, and profit & loss performance.
  • The Left navigation bar allows you to access various centers, such as Banking, Accounting, Sales, Expenses, etc.
  • You can use your Create () icon to add activities and/or transactions.
  • Utilizing the Magnifying Glass (🔎) icon will enable you to search for transactions.

 

Next, I'd recommend adding any necessary banking accounts and following along with the rest of our steps in Intuit's official manual for getting started in QuickBooks.

Just to clarify, are you looking for a QuickBooks version that is suitable for your small business? If so, you can sign up for the Simple Start or Essentials version to track income and expenses in QuickBooks. Yet, if you're tracking inventory, I'd suggest signing up for the Plus version of QuickBooks.

However, if you already signed up for QuickBooks and don't know how to set up your small farm, I'll guide you on how to get started.

 

  1. In your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, click Account and Settings.
  2. Go to the Company menu, then enter your company information.
  3. In the Company type section, select the Tax form and Industry of your business. If you're not sure about this, I recommend seeking help from your accountant.
  4. Complete the information.
  5. Click Save, then Done.

If the feature is included in their subscription, I'd suggest reaching out to our phone support agents so they can guide you in turning on the feature. I know how you would want to contact our QuickBooks Online Support Experts to fix this error. But, let me assist you first and provide you with some troubleshooting steps to sort this out. 

First off, the browser can occasionally be poorly configured, which leads to issues. I suggest opening a different browser or a private window to isolate the issue. Here's how to activate incognito mode in some of the most common online browsers:
 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P


If you can no longer see any error message when logging in to your QuickBooks, it's safe to say that the browser has caused it. This can be fixed by clearing your cache and cookies.

However, if the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Online Support Experts. At Can't get signed in? section of the page, you'll be able to see the QuickBooks contact number.

Can I get technical support.

My Name is Ken Stalls ([email address removed]) in prior years I have not had a problem getting information about my client Financial Reports, But this year I login and select the one client online with Quickbooks Online and it is McCaskill Realty, LLC, BUT when i try to print a balance sheet or Profit & Loss statement I do not get any data!

BUT, this year I am able to login but when I try to print a Balance Sheet or Profit Loss Statement, I do not get any data.  I need technical support to resolve this issue.

I am the Admin and I tried to login to my desktop QB account and I am receiving the message

"There's a new QB software update"

Looks like you don't have the required permissions. Contact your system Admin"

The only options I am given are

What's new in this update

Close Quickbooks.

I believe I had this set as auto updates.

I am the only one on this account/and the only one that has accesss.

The error message occurs if the file is read incorrectly on a Windows computer. To fix this, you can log in as an administrator in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Close all the programs then restart your computer.
  2. Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon.
  3. Select Run as the Administrator.

Hi there, @Rudy O. I'll help you update your file.

 

Are you switching to a newer QuickBooks Desktop version? You must log in as an admin user to update your company file. Follow these steps:

 

  1. Open the newer version of QuickBooks.
  2. Click the File button, then Open or Restore Company,
  3. Choose Open a Company file, then click the Next button.
  4. Find and select your data file, then Open.
  5. Sign in to your company file as the admin user.
  6. Optional: QuickBooks automatically creates a backup of your existing company file. You can select Change this default location to save the backup in a specific folder.
  7. Select Update Now.
  8. When QuickBooks finishes, select Done.

 

You can now open your company file in your new version. Additionally, make sure to back up your file regularly. This way, you can recover your data from any unexpected issues that may arise.

Thanks for letting us know about your concern, pam126. Let me help you rectify the c=47 error and ensure you'll get back to business seamlessly.

 

The error c=47 in QuickBooks Desktop has detected corruption on your file and will no longer access your data or a section of your data file. To make sure you'll get around this issue, let's consider closing and reopening your QuickBooks file. You can restart your computer and database server to see if this fixes the error. Also, ensure that QuickBooks is set up correctly and the computer hosting the data file is up and running.

 

If the same thing happens, let's install the QuickBooks Tool Hub on your desktop. We'll use this to deal with network problems, company file damages, and other performance issues. Then, we can run the Quick Fix My Program tool from the Tool Hub to end QuickBooks processes running in the background. To do this:

 

  1. Close your QuickBooks.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file.
  3. Open the QuickBookstoolhub.exe file.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install it and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Select Finish.
  6. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

 

Once done, follow the steps below: 

 

  1. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Click Quick Fix My Program.
  3. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.
