The icon is for people who have multiple companies. Each co is a different color. It really should not show if the user just uses 1 co. And what is the picture of? A feather? A hot dog?

Hi there, marktorrance.

It would be helpful if you could provide the page you were working on and a screenshot of the icon.

In the meantime, let's try a few steps. Let's clear the application’s data or cache.

  1. In your QuickBooks app, go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose Reset App Data.
  3. Afterwards, sign out and sign back in.

If the icon isn’t displaying correctly, you can uninstall and reinstall the application.

Reach out to me if you need more help.

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for your response. I did a reset but it's still there. I'm attaching a screen shot of the tab. It appears on any new tabs created as well. I wasn't sure if it was just something added in the update as I don't recall seeing it before. Thanks

Forgot to mention that I had already downloaded the app again and installed a new copy.

LOL, the hot dog was my guess. It just seemed out of place.

I had recently started my co in QB but decided to completely start over as I was outside reset window. Those files should be deleted on the 21st so I assume that will go away. Thanks for info.

Thank you for your response, @marktorrance

I appreciate you've already re-installed the app. I see that you have multiple companies and that's the reason why the hotdog icon is appearing on the left of each tab.

Hi, I do not have multiple companies (I did last year, but it's no longer listed as an option when I click on switch companies). I also did the app reset. I don't know why, but the icon really bugs me, partly because it's so awkwardly positions in the tab and it's incredibly ugly and I have no idea what it is. Looks like a mistake that took somebody an hour to implement. Do you have any other suggestions on how to get rid of it?

Thank you!

Hi, @alexkson.

Thanks for joining the thread. Allow me to chime in and help share some information about this icon in QBO App.

The icon you're referring to is used to hide the left navigation window. This icon is a new feature of the newly updated version of the application and at this time, we don't have the option to remove this.

We want to do our best to make sure that you're taken care of. That said, if you don't like this icon showing in your QBO App, I'd suggest sending your feedback to this link: http://feedback.qbo.intuit.com.

Our Product Development Team visits this section regularly to ensure we're delivering on what our customers need.

I'm just a post away if you have other questions about the icon. I'll be here to help.

I do have multiple companies but all of my tabs show a hot dog.  It appears that one may be a more red color, one more pink and one purple.  Very difficult to notice the difference unless you're really looking for it, which makes the different colors rather pointless.  Is there a way to choose the color of the hot dog?  Perhaps if one was pink and one was green, it would be a much better idea.  If so, please advise on how I do this.

On a side note, what is the icon actually supposed to be?  I'm sure it's not actually intended to be a hot dog!

Thank you,

Alison

Hi there, @Fast Nail LLC.

Let me help share some information about the icon in QBO app.

At this time, we don't have the option yet to choose colors or classify this according to your preference. I hope there is a way to customize that. What we can do for the meantime is send product feedback regarding your suggestion.

I'll make sure to send feedback regarding this matter to the appropriate channels. I'd also recommend you send a product suggestion to our Developers to let them know how you feel about this feature. You can send your feedback directly to this link: https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/.

Please visit us again in the Community if you have other questions. I'll be here to help however I can. Happy weekend.

QB app simply isn't working. All of the useful drop-downs are gray. What's going on?

Hi sharpads,

If you haven't restarted your computer, please try it and see if the drop-downs will be available. If the same thing happens, you can re-install the app to start fresh.

Please let us know what shows then.

Nice! I see that the latest update adjusted the position of the icon in the tab. That seems less awkward.

On a somewhat related topic. How can I get rid of my cancelled company completely ?

It was a test for various import methods and there is NOTHING in it I'll ever want and I'd rather not have to look at it until 2020.

Thx

Hi marktorrance,

Once an account is cancelled, it will become a read-only file and will be deleted automatically after a year. The other way to remove the company is to add a dummy user.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Under Your Company, click Manage Users.
  3. Click the Add user button.
  4. Choose the User Type, and click Next.
  5. Enter a contact info, and click Save.

Then, transfer the Master Admin role to that user. Once transferred, you will no longer see the company when logging in to QuickBooks Online.

Here's an article for more information: Transfer The Master Administrator Role
