How do I change the scheme colors in QB to differenciate between 2 companies?

@MaulikH I've got one for you. In the recent company open list when switching companies would the engineers consider changing the font color to match our company scheme or at the very least make them alternating shades. With 10 and counting it is sometimes difficult to discern which company to open.

I'm here to help you figure this out, @UpstatePeeps.

Let's get Company Color Scheme option back in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro 2020 by doing some troubleshooting steps. Thus, you can change the color as soon as possible.

To begin, I'd recommend updating your QBDT account to the latest release (R5). This way, your is up to date and fix some issues that you've encounter like unable to see the color scheme.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Update Now button.
  3. Tap Get updates to start the download.

       4. Restart the computer and install the new release.

       5. Press F2 on your keyboard to see the release note and version.

You may also refer to this page: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Once done, please go back to the Desktop View page to verify if the Company Color Scheme option is visible.

If the issue continues, let's run the Verify/Rebuild tools. This tool scans your company file for issues and fixes them right away. You can follow these easy instructions below.

To Verify:

  1. Go to the Window menu and select Close All.
  2. Then, go to the File menu.
  3. Select Utilities.
  4. Click Verify Data.

To Rebuild:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Rebuild Data.

You can also check this article for more detailed steps: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

I've also added some pages about how to adjust the view preferences like font, sizing, and other display issues.

Notify me if you have follow-up questions about your account. It's my pleasure to help. Take care always.

How do I change the scheme colors in QB to differenciate between 2 companies?

Hi!

I got QB updated to the most current version.  The company color scheme selection is still missing. So I did the verify data and there were no problems detected with my data.

Let's perform some steps to get the imported invoice template working in QuickBooks, Lemmerot.

I appreciate you for performing the steps provided by my colleagues. To better isolate this one, let's try opening another company file to check if you're having a problem with only one file and not the program itself. Let me show you how:

  1. In your QuickBooks, go to the File menu at the top left.
  2. Choose Close Company.
  3. In the No Company Open window, click the drop-down arrow in the Open a sample file icon.
  4. Choose a sample file and click on it.

Then, change the colors in QuickBooks by following the steps below:

  1. Click Edit, on the top grey menu bar.
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Tap Desktop View.
  4. Once there, look for the "Company File Color Scheme" option and choose your color

We have a range of color options to make each company file unique. If the same something happens, there may be a damaged component on the software. We can repair your QuickBooks Desktop to fix this one.

If the problem persists, I'd suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. You may send a message via chat, call us at a time convenient to you, or we’ll get in touch with you instead. To ensure we address your concern, our representatives are available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM on Saturdays, PST. See our support hours and types for more details about this one.

Visit our QuickBooks Help Articles page for more insight s about managing your business in your software.

Feel free to update us after contacting our support or performing the solutions, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Please reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.

My Company File Color Scheme won't stay the color I choose. Each time I reopen Quickbooks it is back to the Pink color. Is there a way to fix this?

How do I change the color scheme of customers in QB Desktop Enterprise?  I have some customers that are habitual late payers and it would be an easy way to notify our sales team.

How do I change the scheme colors in QB to differenciate between 2 companies?

We have been having problems where we make a Customer Invoice but the pull down menu is defaulted (from the last entry in Invoicing or Receiving Payments) to Customer Deposits.  The opposite is also true where Receiving a Customer Payment and it defaults to Account Receivable.

The only way we have been able to see this is if we are applying credits to Customers and the total amounts are not there. Or if you pull up Accounts Receivable and see Customer Deposits where they should not be.

So we thought that if the screen would change colors between Customer Deposits and Accounts Receivable (The way it does when entering a Charge or a Credit on the Enter Credit Card Charges) or if the pull down default was always blank and you had to choose between AR or Customer Deposits, this would solve the problem nicely.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, JDMJOE.

We'll have to perform some basic troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. To begin, let's uncheck the Automatically recall last transaction function. Let me help and guide you through the steps.

Here's how:

  1. In your company file, head to the Edit menu at the top bar and choose Preferences.
  2. From there, go to the General menu on the left panel and choose the My Preferences tab.
  3. In the AUTOMATICALLY RECALL INFORMATION section, unmark the Automatically recall last transaction for this number radio button.
  4. Click OK for the changes to take effect.

Next, create an invoice or receive a payment to see if QuickBooks still remembers the last entry you made. If yes, we'll need to download the most recent maintenance release. This troubleshooting step can help you resolve common errors and unexpected behavior in the desktop program.

If none of these suggestions work, let's run the Verify and Rebuild Data Utilities. The mentioned tool will scan your file for data damage that contributes to this problem and notify you of what needs to be manually repaired. Before you lodge the utility, make sure to create a backup copy of the company file to prevent accidental loss.

If you wish to adjust your view preferences and change the display and Windows settings, the following reference outlines the complete steps on how to perform each task: Fix screen issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can visit the Community page to access the tools, articles, and resources you need to efficiently manage your business and any accounting processes.

Keep me posted below if you still have other product concerns or need further assistance troubleshooting unexpected issues in the program. I'll be right back to help and make sure you're taken care of.
