Installing QB Premier Plus 2024 on a new Windows 11 computer - help!!

I have a client who has a new PC laptop with Microsoft Windows 11 Home in S mode.  I need to install Quickbooks Desktop Premier Plus 2024 on this computer.  We managed to download the QB exe file from the intuit website, but every time I try to run this exe file, I get a warning that "the app you're trying to install isn't a Microsoft verified app"  - and asks me to "Get Apps from Store" or to "Change my app recommendation settings".

What is a way around this? I did see that there's one "fix" to change Microsoft out of S mode and possibly down to Windows 10.  Since it can't be switched back to Windows 11 I'd rather not go that route.  It's just so frustrating.  I did a search in this discussion page and it mentioned that Chrome is better (it's not installed - only the darn "Bing" browser).  I just want to install this program and there's been many more hurdles than expected.  HELP! Please!

Thank you!!!

Installing QB Premier Plus 2024 on a new Windows 11 computer - help!!

Hello there, ArtyFacts123.

I understand the frustration you're experiencing with trying to install Quickbooks Desktop Premier Plus 2024 on the new Windows 11 computer. Let me share some information about the error you've received.

The pop-up message appears if your system is set to only install apps from the Microsoft Store, intentionally or by default. Also, a corrupted Microsoft Store cache, installing an app from an unofficial source, and enabling Windows S mode may caused the error.

Here are a few checks and fixes to resolve the error and install the app successfully:

  • Install the app from the Microsoft Store.
  • Make sure the app you're downloading is safe.
  • Change the operating system app settings.
  • Turn off the app install control policy.
  • Change the app install control permission in the registry editor.
  • Disable Windows S mode.
  • Run the Windows store apps and troubleshoot.

To modify the app permissions, let's deactivate the Microsoft feature. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Windows menu.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Tap Apps.
  4. Select the Advanced app settings tab.
  5. Choose Anywhere from the drop-down menu next to Choose where to get apps.

If the option isn't available on your end, I suggest getting in touch with the Microsoft Support Team for further guidance.

Furthermore, I've added this link to determine your computer's requirements for the best QuickBooks experience: System Requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2024.

I'd also recommend periodically checking this page for compatibility release updates. QuickBooks Desktop Microsoft Windows 11 Compatibility.

We have more articles to assist with QBDT tasks. Are you still installing the program? Check out this guide: Install QuickBooks Desktop.

Once you've already added data to the system and need help with the reports, you can visit this resource: Understand Reports.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you install QuickBooks. I'll gladly offer assistance again. Take care.

Installing QB Premier Plus 2024 on a new Windows 11 computer - help!!

Hi there!
Thank you for your most helpful reply!  I tried to follow those instructions regarding changing the app permissions.  It unfortunately doesn't show that last option #5 "Choose Anywhere from the drop-down menu next to the Choose where to get apps".  Do you know why it might not be showing this?

Thanks so much - I'm becoming very tired of Microsoft!

Installing QB Premier Plus 2024 on a new Windows 11 computer - help!!

Thank you! I finally finally was able to get this installation started by opting to get Microsoft Windows 11 out of S mode.

I went to this Microsoft.com website to make doubly sure of it - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/choose-where-to-get-apps-from-feature-missing-...

I don't understand why that hurdle is necessary but I'm glad at least that part has been figured out!

Thank you so much again for your time!

Sincerely,
