WHEN??? I have to begin preparation of multiple personal tax returns soon and cannot access my QB files until Intuit's software becomes compatible with the new Big Sur OS. Please give the community a status update as soon as possible.
Zack, my not seeing the update was a response to this post shown below which states that update for Big Sur have been released for 2019 ???

Here’s how:
what about QuickBooks 2016 [43344]
still doesn't open and can't even check for updates
please advise
For those of us home users who barely use quickbooks, but only for a couple of things....this is VERY frustrating! I am not computer literate and I cant even get into my quickbooks AT ALL! I have read some of the other posts, mainly the one about Intuit not keeping up with apple, and I totally agree. I went on the chat help and they of course wanted me to upgrade my quickbooks, at a hefty price for sure. I should not have to upgrade every two years because Apple comes out with a new IOS system. Also, I wouldn't even know how to begin to "downgrade" my system.....ridiculous....now I have to wait for a month from what I am reading to get into my quickbooks?? ugh
How can we access this, if the quickbooks will not even open!
If QuickBooks crashes on opening you can try launching without opening your company file. To do that hold down the option key and double click on the QuickBooks application icon (in your dock or in the /Applications folder). If QuickBooks launches choose QuickBooks->Check for Updates and apply any updates that are available.
Otherwise you can download the latest version of QuickBooks from here:
https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products
For QuickBooks Mac 2016 if neither of the above two options works then you may need to upgrade to a newer version.
not sure what to say about the download you email me, its a actually an older version of what I already have and obviously doesn't work.
why should I get a new version?
please advise
could you send a version that actually works?
thank you
QBD 2016 is an outdated version. It won't support BigSur.
so I should buy a newer version ?
Correct. You may consider upgrading to QBD Mac 2019 or 2020 to save some money.
could you send me a link to buy the 2019 version
thank you

The link I posted allows you to pick any version.
I called Apple and basically, if you downgrade from Big Sur you have to reset your entire computer so you stand to lose everything. QB told me they will no longer support my version which was MAC 2015. I work for a nonprofit and was able to get QB for MAC 2021 for $50 through techsoup.org. Instead of buying from QB can you check Sam's or Costco for a newer version?
I am also using 2016 .. and you are still providing us with solutions for Windows. .. I cannot open the dropdown icon BECAUSE IT DOES NOT OPEN THE APP AT ALL .. So, if it does not open, how can I press any command ????
Hi there, Jose.
I've read all responses in the entire thread and it they are all for the QuickBooks for Mac versions.
Since you're not able to open the software at all, you can download the update via web patch. Here's how:
After installing the update, check of you can already open QuickBooks. You can also check out our QuickBooks Mac articles if you need more help.

HI That link was for a full download, which would not open, sadly not a patch. "|New" 2016 version will not open.. only the 2020 Trail Version. Looks as if I am going to have to buy it
