Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowSo I just went through this nightmare myself - we had an old laptop which we used our 2008 QB pro (3 licenses, btw, but we only have been using it on one computer). The laptop crashed, and we re-installed QB on another computer - a desktop. Anyway, we were getting this same message and I called to register because it could not be done online and met with a brick wall. "So sorry - we no longer support and therefore no longer can register." I found this thread and got my hopes up that I just had an unhelpful rep on the phone and logged in and chatted with Jane M. got another hard stop. After much back and forth in the chat where I even copied and pasted the moderator's replies here (which infer that help is possible), she abruptly cut off the chat. Sorry not sorry - basically! I continued to click through replies in this thread and I came across a link to troubleshoot activation/license issue and found this:
[LINK: Fix activation, license, and product numbers issues]
I did this and inputting the zeros and closing out (through step 3) bought me another 30 days! LOL, so I figured, I'll just have to go in once a month and input the license and the following month do the zeroes, etc. However, I'm sure there's some limit there also...? Anyway, the point is, I continued with the next two steps and input the license number again, as well as the validation code (which thankfully, we had saved), and it APPEARS to be working just fine. I guess time will tell if the message to register will repopulate (giving us 29 days as of tomorrow)...But for now, I THINK it worked because previously it would prompt the registration mandate every time we opened the program (and not just once a day), but I could be remembering incorrectly. I pray it's resolved, and if it is, I hope this helps someone in the future. I can't imagine there are too many of us clinging to our old software like this but for those us who are - Godspeed!
Thank you Lulaesq
Unfortunately my 2010/11 version does not have the option of Help, Manage my license, then Change my license number
You can purchase QB Desktop 2016 or 2017 to upgrade your version.
Why should I have to purchase another version.
I have purchased and paid for the version I have and should be bale to continue to use it however Reckon Australia refuse to activate the version I have
A license is simply permission to use something. You never own the product. That's why a developer can refuse to reactivate the license at any time.
not worth the costs or effort
QB Support Team refused to assist. Being told that they discontinued and refused to help further.
