Join nowI want to disconnect Quickbook from Square. I do NOT wish to quit Square. I just don't want Square transactions reported on Quickbooks. The only answer I get is to call Square. That doesn't make sense at all.
Solved! Go to Solution.
To disconnect apps:
You can do the same from within QuickBooks Online on the Apps tab.
Thanks,

The Sync with Square app is absolute swill. Completely useless, creates far more work than manually adding transactions. It's hard to believe the Intuit team created an integration that doesn't sync customers, products or partial payments. And it's terribly documented too. You should fire the developers.
Does anyone have an update here? I have the square app installed and now it has stopped working. When I try and go to my apps to uninstall the only options I get are "support" "settings" and "launch". When I try and click the settings function a window opens and quickly closes before I am able to see what the options would be. I have attempted contacting QBO support many times and have had no help from their team. This app is so far a complete nightmare.
Hi there, Aggie2394.
The square app is a third-party application that can be integrated with QuickBooks Online (QBO). That said, it is best to contact their support to know why it's not working and review your account. You can use Google search for the most updated phone number for Square Support.
Here's an article that you might find helpful in learning more about connecting QBO to Square: Connect your QuickBooks Online to Square.
Let me know if you have other questions while working with purchase orders. I'm here to further assist. Have a lovely day ahead.
We want to DISCONNECT, not connect it. How is an article about "how to connect: going to remove it?
You cannot make it GO AWAY. There is no uninstall, no disconnect. It won't stop!
Hello, sales-cookeville.
I'll ensure you're able to disconnect your Square app from QuickBooks Online.
As what my previous colleague mentioned, you can disconnect the Square app by going to your Apps page:
You can find out more about the process here: Disconnect an app and change subscription.
If you decide to use our Online Banking feature to track and categorize your transactions, you can check this article for a guide: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.
I'll hear you out if you have any other concerns regarding your apps or processes in QuickBooks. Just reply here and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
I've tried to disconnect the app but the option to disconnect does not show up. I went onto settings for the app as suggested in one of the replies from Intuit and a blank screen pops up with nothing. I even went onto my square app, logged in, checked to see with apps Im synced with, disconnected from Quickbooks on their end and when I went to log on Quickbooks again it says its still connected!!! There is some kind of glitch happening here, someone in quickbooks needs to remediate this ASAP!!! This is ridiculous. Square is not the one asking permission to connect so it is not an issue that needs to be solved with them, this is an issue specifically with Intuit. And it seems every single intuit "professional" who answers gives a generic response and isn't listening to the complaint. Someone needs to take responsibility of this issue instead of handing it off to someone else who will gave the exact same response. This is a programming internal issue or glitch that needs to be fixed.
Hello there, @brito_m212.
I've got a few troubleshooting steps to help you open your Square App settings screen so you can disconnect it.
To start, run your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using an incognito mode. Private browser prevents saving cache and cookies that sometimes cause errors when running frequently visited websites.
Below are the shortcut keys you can use depending on your browser type:
• Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
• Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
• Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
• Safari: press Command + Shift + N
Once done, go to the settings again and disconnect the app. If this works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache. This will remove the stored cache or cookies to refresh your browser's background processes. If the same thing happens, use another supported browser. It could be that the one you're currently using has a temporary issue with QuickBooks.
If you're looking for sources that you can bookmark for future use, you can visit our QuickBooks Online Help page. The site has tons of articles and even video tutorials that can guide you through your QBO tasks.
Don't hesitate to post a reply below if you have further questions. I'll be always around to help.
Hi, i Tried following the steps and it did not work. There is no option to disconnect. The button does not appear. I'm also connected to etsy and their button appears. I had to purge my companies info to start over and this is when the problem started. Everything is deleted expect my square transactions? A purge is supposed to start new? And no matter what I do I cannot disconnect the app. It's been permanently integrated and I have these payments that I can't even remove from my file. I need to have my books ready in a few days for a loan I'm in the middle of getting approved for and this internal issue is going to cause me the future of my business.
Good morning, @brito_m212.
Thanks for reaching back out and letting us know out it went.
Since you're still having this problem, I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll be able to take a closer look into your account. Here's how:
It's that easy.
Please let the Community know how it goes. We want to ensure that you get this taken care of today. Bye for now!
I have the same issue, did you ever get this resolved? Thanks.
Hello, annsawyer.
I'm here to help you figure out why you are unable to disconnect your Square app in QuickBooks. Have you tried login your QuickBooks Account using incognito? If not, let's go ahead by signing in to QBO using a private or incognito window. This mode doesn't use the existing cache data and helps us confirm browser-related issues.
Here's how:
If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. The overtime collection of data can create corruption, however, removing this should fix the issue. You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.
Additionally, this article provides details about disconnecting with Square: Disconnect an app and change subscription.
Please know that you're always welcome to reply to this thread anytime if you still have questions or concerns with Square app. I'm more than willing to assist you. Take care and stay safe.
Much thanks for the response AileneA. I have tried all of the above suggestions using an incognito app with different browsers (Chrome, Safari both on Mac and PC computers). None of that worked. Any other suggestions? I cannot reach the Settings in the Connect to Square app as the window disappears after 1-2 seconds. I have similar issues to brito_m212 above and this post below. I contacted Support as indicated above and they could not help me and said to try Square, but the app is designed by Intuit.
Hi there, annsawyer.
I just wanted to let you know that my colleague responded to your other post. In order to keep the conversation streamlined and provide you with the best resolution, I'll ask that you post any follow-ups there.
Just in case you haven't been notified of the new response, here's the link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/account-management/does-anybody-have-problems-gett...
I'm adding this article to view different details on how Square transactions work with QuickBooks Online: Sync Square with QuickBooks Online.
Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns. I'll be here every step of the way. As always, you can reach out to the QuickBooks Community anytime you need a helping hand. Take care!
Hi there, @davecat. I want to ensure you'll be able to disconnect the Connect to Square app in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
To start, let's ensure that you sign in as the primary admin of the QBO account. Your user role might be the reason you're unable to disconnect the Connect to Square app.
If this is not the case, let's now access your QBO account via incognito mode and disconnect the app from there. Logging in to your account using a private browser will provide you with a clean slate. Below are the shortcut keys you can use.
If this works, clear the cache of your regular browser to eliminate the piled-up cache that causes web-based issues. If not, I suggest utilizing another supported browser or device.
However, if the issue persists, I highly recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team to further help you disconnect the app. They use a specific tool to pull up your account in a secure place. They can also provide additional troubleshooting steps to help resolve it.
For reference in managing your account, feel free to read this article: Connect your Square account to QuickBooks Online.
I also added this helpful resource that you can access to ensure your transactions are categorize and match correctly: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
I'm just around the corner to help if you have any other concerns about disconnecting your app in QBO. Have a good one and stay safe.
