Join nowWe have about 50 Quickbooks clients and have started doing the 1099 mapping of accounts (Vend. On some of our clients, after we map the accounts and save and close the 1099 Wizard, the mapping then disappears. If you go to then run the 1099 Summary, there are no accounts mapped and all of your work disappeared.
Hello, MargaretB.
I have a bunch of solutions to help you fix the missing 1099 data and ensure you're able to file the form.
Before we do anything else, make sure your QuickBooks Desktop copy is updated to the latest release. This ensures all its components and plugins (the 1099 Wizard) are running smoothly.
Make sure to check the 1099 eligibility settings of your client's vendors. This might be the reason why the 1099 Summary report appears empty. You can do that by going to their profile. Here's how:
Another solution to do is to uninstall and reinstall the 1099Tax plugin. Before doing this, close all QuickBooks processes:
Next, uninstall and reinstall the plugin. You can read the detailed steps in this article: 1099/Tax/Uninstall-Install the Plugin.
After doing the steps above, run the 1099 Wizard and map your accounts again.

What do you mean by "map your accouts"? What specifically is that?
Hello, knapiks.
Mapping 1099s accounts mean you'll only map those expense accounts that you used to track payments to your vendors through check and expense transactions. You need to be sure you have all your payments to 1099 vendors identified correctly. You do not need to report payments you made electronically, such as by credit card, debit card, gift card, or PayPal payments. QBDT automatically excludes these for you.
To ensure you mapped them correctly, please check out this article: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop.

I did all this and it worked for 4 of them. However the last one did not send a report to state. I don't know if it is because of the type of expense account it is. Or what?
I am not getting what part of the process mapping refers to. But tax 1099 helped me through it. But one of the people i submitted for did not get a state form sent and I am wondering if it has to do with the expense account I used.
However, upon contactng Paypal, they only report over I believe it is $25,000. So I did report the paypal payments. If I have to correct I will but that is what the recording at Paypal said. And my tax accountant.
I'm here to ensure your vendors will receive the state form, knapiks.
A vendor appears on the list if it meets the following criteria in QuickBooks:
To verify the settings, I suggest review the payments and make sure that they're assigned to the correct 1099 categories.
For other troubleshooting steps to resolve 1099 issues, I suggest checking this article: Troubleshoot Common 1099 Problems.
However, if verified that all payments are mapped to the correct accounts and still unable to receive the form, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Care team to further investigate the root cause of the issue. They can pull up your account in a secure place and you can also request a screen-sharing session so they can check your setup and guide you with the steps you'll need to take.
Additionally, I've included our Year End guide for reference. This article contains information that'll help you complete year-end tasks and end the year smoothly.
