Stop feeding people GARBAGE!
I swear we should all boycott QuickBooks! They think they have such a highly usable software as QuickBooks Online, but let me tell you that is another piece of GARBAGE.
Friends: Please do not bang your heads against the wall! It is not your computer that is under-performing! It is the QuickBooks software which is broken and they have been dragging us for yeeears!
Hi @alcompco,
This isn't the type of service we want you to experience and I know how it feels when you're unable to finish your tasks as soon as possible. This time, let's repair your QuickBooks Desktop.
Repairing QuickBooks resolves most performance issues you currently experienced. To do so, let's close all windows of your QuickBooks Desktop after creating a backup copy of your company file.
After doing so, follow the steps below on how you can repair your QuickBooks Desktop:
Once done, you'll have to restart your computer so the changes you made with QuickBooks will take effect. After that, open your QuickBooks Desktop and perform your work.
Lastly, you can always visit our Help Articles page for QuickBooks Desktop if in case you need some related articles for future reference.
If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comment section down below. I'll be always around ready to help.
STOP!!!! This is not the solution!!! This is a problem that has existed for years ever since the new Bank Feed Center has been introduced!! You guys are oblivious to all the posts that all the seasoned professionals of QuickBooks are leaving for you all over the communities related to Intuit/QuickBooks.
STOP SENDING PEOPLE ON WILD GOOSE CHASE!!!
KUDOS & COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU "ALCOMPCO"
A never ending list of diagnoses to annoy us to the point we give up & simply muddle through.
I AM IN THE PROCESS OF LEAVING INTUIT ALTOGETHER!!! NO ONE EVEN AT INTUIT OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT OR EXECUTIVE LEVEL ARE LISTENING AS I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH AN EXECUTIVE AND THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT MULTIPLE TIMES & NO RESOLUTION.
I AM OUT. GOOD LUCK INTUIT YOU ARE ON THE WAY DOWN THE TUBES.
10 Years ago I told the executives of Research in Motion and Blackberry make a move on before your company becomes obsolete and they did not listen, now we all know what happened to them! All throughout the history there have been so many companies such as Kodak, Xerox and Etc. who lost sight of the service and quality of the products and now are nothing but pages of history! Let me tell you the demise of Intuit and QuickBooks has already started unless the executive listen to their seasoned professional and fix the issues with their software. Intuit is cheating their customers by millions and millions of dollars in explicit and implicit costs. This absolutely makes me sick in the stomach!!!!
I am not going to take your non-nonsensical advise!!! YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT AT ALL!!!! STOP!!!! STOP!!!! This issue is nothing new and has been around multiple versions of QuickBooks. It is not Data File dependent either!! It is a global programmaticall bug whose your software engineers have been ignoring to fix or are incapable of fixing. STOP WASTING OUR TIME!!!! YOU CAN GO AND LAY THIS NONSENSE ON SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!! I KNOW AS MUCH TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TELLING ME IS ABSOLUTE CRAP!!!!
I will no longer purchase Intuit software. This bug takes away too much time from my life and the fact that this huge company cant dedicate a few engineers to this issue is absurd.
I am looking for an alternative solution today.
Good bye Intuit... you have lost a long time customer.
I will be looking for an alternative to quickbooks today. The fact that this huge company cannot dedicate a few software engineers to this problem is absurd. Using this software is no longer productive and is taking too much time from my life, as I sit and wait for a window to open.
No more. Good bye quickbooks.
Following this thread for waaaaayyy tooooo long!
They will never fix this issue!
So sad.
But for $39 per minute they will talk you through an unending pile of crap solution!
Thanks for the Customer NO Service... once again.
Hello All:
One Semi-Solution I have found is that the ND files in the QuickBooks data folder becoming enormously large. This by my experience and not by the Tech Support's advice has been the contributor of the slowness of the banking rules and their creations.
If you perform regular backups of the data in QuickBooks, this file will be reduced in size therefore improving the performance of the Rules Creation in QuickBooks.
Please try it and see if my experience applies to your situation.
Sincerely,
AlcompCo
Just a quick follow up:
After months of deliberation on my part, I decided to go fully on with QBO and take all my clients with me regardless of the problems that I, as well as many have pointed out. Although it may be stated in the "things you should know before migrating from QBD to QBO", I found it simply horrifying, no, bad choice of words; I found it INCONSIDERATE of the Intuit team, to not bring the Rules with the conversion!
This means if you have 1,000 or simply just 10 Rules in your QBD, you will now have to re-create them in QBO. I simply could not fathom the thought as there was so much time put into these already. They may as well have left out A/R or even A/P!
Okay, perhaps Rules have no financial impact but still, did they not consider this?
It's the same thing with Vendor Notes. They only take the latest note!! I mean c'mon!! Some of my and some of my vendors have dozens of notes per vendor. How ridiculous that me or someone else needs to keep open an old QBD version running to refer to when something is missing from QBO. This means either loss of time by opening and closing QBD and/or the company file, or leaving it open it the background all the time, leaving yourself vulnerable to prying eyes.
Alright, I said my piece for the day...
Sorry - one more thing. I'm attaching a pic showing just one example of the hundreds of rules I have that I now have to recreate...
just more of Intuit telling customers FU!
It got worse again after my most recent update :(
what’s going on intuit? I can’t wait a full minute or two every time i need to edit a rule
also- can you give us a keyword search field in the top of the rules screen please?
Ex: chase or restaurant
We can sort alpha but it is still time consuming since bank downloads often put numbers in front of vendor names
thanks
Let's run the Verify and Rebuild utility tool, taxesrita.
This will detect any issues in your company file and corrects them. Just make sure to create a backup copy of your company file beforehand.
To run the tool:
If the tool detects an issue, rebuild the file by following these steps:
Otherwise, repair QuickBooks to replace all damaged installation files of the software.
If the issue persists, completely uninstall or clean install QuickBooks Desktop to replace the system files on your computer.
Keep us posted on how things go. We'll be here to help.
Why would you do it, I mean migrate all your clients over to a program that, by your own admission, has so many bugs and issues? Just curious...
STOP WITH THE CRAP!! None of your "fixes" fix anything. I have posted this article in the Quickbooks Facebook forum, I got a little bit of fluffiness "oh we're here to help, don't worry" but it's all crap because they are unable to help because there is no fix for this. Just admit it, Intuit, you F'd up the apple cart AND the horse!
Hello spargurtax,
I know how errors or issues can be impacting when running the program. Since the troubleshooting steps provided on this thread don't work for you, I'd recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. From there, they can create a case about this and provide additional steps to resolve the concern. Here's how you can reach them:
You can also do a follow-up call using the ticket they'll provide you about the issue.
that is a ridiculous workaround & will need to be done 20-40 times a year per file, UNACCEPTABLE!!!
worst workaround ever proposed, this would need to be completed 30-40 times a year per business. That is stupid. just rebuild QB desktop structure.
Before you suggest any of us contact you or you propose any more useless workarounds, please go back and read the entire history of this post, which is now OVER A FRIKKIN YEAR long.
Using a spreadsheet to do the bookkeeping is actually quicker than trying to add rules in this busted software. Such a simple thing to fix, if only you had the staff to handle it. I could not be more disappointed in Intuit right now, as I wait five minutes between clicking to edit a rule and getting the pop-up. This ruins the entire functionality of this software.
Amen Brother!
I am a CPA and I have every client file that experiences this slowness. I have been working for the last 3 hours to install up 20 new rules due to a recent import. QB is a horrible mess these days. 2013 worked better and now I am running 2020 version. But they always come up with this mess about ok have you checked to see if your power cable is connected to the PC. Do you have a keyboard and a mouse. Are they operating on the most recent drivers.... let's take a look there first. Ok. Do you own a printer? Do you like clowns? Do you think you computer is possessed? And then when you get down with everything and I mean EVERYTHING they have ZERO for an answer except to say it is a known issue and we are working on it. But I have been working through it since 2016. So I guess it's not a priority.
Intuit is easily the worst large company I have ever dealt with. I have been a loyal QB user since the mid 90s. I am a CPA and have all of my clients on it. I even begin pushing some clients to QBO. Biggest time dump ever. After a while I called to see who all I had being billed for through my wholesale billing so I could in turn bill all I had put on there and they had no idea. It took me between 20-40 hours and 8 weeks of calls to determine which of the clients were being billed to me so I could send them an invoice with documented proof. They told me that they were unable to tell me that information. SO IF YOU GLEAN FROM THAT WHAT I GLEAN FROM THAT, THEN THIS MEANS THEY ARE BILLING ME FOR CLIENTS AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHO THEY ARE. So when I ask for the record they are lost. (They may have changed by now. I pitched a full on assault to the President's office and other people who should have cared for many weeks.) My point to them was this... "In theory you are the largest... best bookkeeping software company in the world and YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHO YOU HAVE BILLED ME FOR OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS?" Their answer for almost 6 months was NO. Amazing!
They can get paid... but that accounting stuff... eh... that may be a problem.
Not for this point only but I have moved as many as possible off of their Online platform. It's as if kindergartners built it.
I never try to be mean but this is all just so horrible.
And yes, I am on hour five of entering 18+ new "rules" for bank feeds. It would take less time to key the activity by hand than this crap they've come up with.
