There are a few reasons why you're unable to run payroll in QuickBooks Online. This includes an incomplete tax setup or other missing employee information. To make sure all information is completed, use the following links to review your Payroll setup in QuickBooks Online:

 

You will see an alert in the Dashboard if there are missing information for taxes, click on the link to see which information needs editing. You can also click the Gear icon and use Payroll Settings to verify tax setup completion.

 

For missing employee details, it is indicated with the yellow alert which hinders payroll processing. See this:

Kindly update me on the result as I want to make sure this is resolved. I'm also here if you need further help with this. Have a good one!

Thanks for your reply. Everything is checked. And I can’t seem to delete duplicate employees. I don’t see any option to remove.

Joining the thread to help with your payroll concern, petermousa.

 

I'll share with you the steps on how you can delete an employee. Here's how:

 

  1. Go back to the Employees tab under the Payroll menu.
  2. Look for the duplicate employee and click on it.
  3. Click the Pencil icon beside Profile.
  4. Click Delete employee in the bottom part of the page.
  5. Click Yes to confirm.

Great thank you. So that worked. But when I click pay team, it defaults to the overview page.

Glad to hear that you're able to delete the duplicate employee, petermousa.

 

Since you're still routed to the Overview page, I would recommend reaching out to our Payroll Support Team. They can take a closer look at this to determine what's causing the issue even if the everything has already been setup correctly. Here's how: 

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Contact Us.
  2. Let them know that you need help when running payroll, then click Let's talk.
  3. Select between Start Messaging and Get a call.
