Can the mailing address on checks be lowered to fit window for Intuit Envelopes?

Good day, @marsha002.

As of the moment, there's isn't an option to customize and move the Mailing Address box of your check transactions. The steps above can only be applied to your sales transactions such as Invoice, Sales Receipt, and Estimates.

But don't worry, I'll pass along your request to our product developers. This way, they'll consider adding an option to customize the template for your check transactions.

Additionally, you can also visit our QuickBooks Online Blog regularly. From there, you'll be updated with the new features and enhancements that our developers are currently working on.

Know that you can always visit our Help Articles page for QuickBooks Online in case you need some tips and related articles for your future tasks.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comment section down below. I'll be always around ready to help.

Hi there, @Costman99.

Thank you for posting in the Community. I'd be happy to help share some insights on how you can adjust the mailing address on checks to fit on the window envelopes.

You can edit the custom set up in your forms for window envelopes. Let me show you how:

  1. At the top right, click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Custom Form Styles.
  3. Fund the form and click Edit under the ACTION column.
  4. Choose the Design tab and select Edit Print Settings.
  5. Under Page margins put a check on the box next to Fit printed form with paystub in window envelope
  6. Hit Done at the bottom of the page.

For additional reference, I've also included an article and screenshot for you: How to print forms for window envelopes.

I'm having the exact same problem.  The mailing address on checks sit too high for window envelopes, and I need to tape the check in place so the address doesn't float up in the envelope.  It's pretty irritating.  Can it please be fixed?  thanks!

Thanks for joining this forum, @frustrated as heck. I know exactly how you feel about the mailing address on your checks being unable to fit in the envelope's window.

To ensure the mailing address is visible through the window envelope, I'd suggest you use the checks envelopes specifically made and guaranteed compatible for QuickBooks checks and forms. Visit the IntuitMarket for more information and to get one.

For more detailed steps about printing your checks, read through the print checks setup. It guides you through getting your printer and checks to line up. Then, follow the steps to print checks. It also includes a quick video tutorials to guide you in the right direction.

Feel free to message again if you have additional questions. We're always around to help you more.

if you repeat the name of the supplier as the first line of the of the address it sits properly in the window. It is not acceptable to have to do this work-around while the QB developers figure out how to bump an address down one line... but there you go.

It seems obvious that the developers have no intention of making this simple change possible when they can force us to by their window envelopes instead.

After seeing all the inquiries from users and all the lame responses from the Quickbooks reps, it seems clear that they have no intention at all of making it possible to lower the address. They'd rather make you buy window envelopes from them. Pretty typical customer support from this company in my experience.

Agree.  This is super annoying.   I have tried different things to get the address to move down and nothing works.  My boss (who is not familiar with QB) keeps insisting that there must be a way to adjust this.  I do hope something is done about this.

i AM using Intuit envelopes... the problem still exists!  I'm trying envelopes from other vendors.  Next: the software from other vendors.

It's VERY presumptuous to think we are not already using Intuit envelopes for QB checks.  I certainly am.

It makes no difference.  The problem persists and the concern is not there.

I suppose it's presumptuous of users to believe QB would jump on this issue to be certain the addresses on checks will AT LEAST appear properly in the company's own product.

I am so frustrated with not being able to align the checks with window envelopes.    I spend more time trying to adjust and tape check in the envelopes that I highly recommend everyone to change programs.    It might open up their eyes to fix this problem.  How hard is it for them to add something to the align screen to make it so addresses fit into the window area.    Come on Quickbooks get it done please.

This problem just started for me.

Quickbooks is never going to fix this problem because they are the only one who sells the window envelope compatible with the check margins.  I got tired of paying $100's of dollars for freaking window envelopes, so i bought cheap on Amazon.  The address block doesn't show perfectly, but I have taken the suggestion up above of taping the check.

The easiest DIY solution to this is to go to your Vendors and go down to their Mailing Address.  Enter a "blank line" above their Name so that it lowers the entire Mailing Address one line and has a blank line now for the top line.

It is a bit time consuming and pretty stupid for a fix that an IT guy at QB could probably fix in a few minutes.  But its a heck of a lot better than taping or hunting down weird shaped window envelopes.

Add a blank line above each vendor's mailing address in the Vendor Center.  It will lower the whole thing down one line and then it fits in the window

This is not "solved". The problem still remains that vendor addresses print too high on checks.

I understand that this is an important aspect for your business, savannah6.

At the moment, the option to customize and move the check's mailing address box is unavailable in QuickBooks Online. I'd like to share a workaround that you can implement to achieve a similar result. For each vendor profile, you'll want to consider adding a blank line above their mailing address to lower down this section on your printed checks. Here's how:

  1. Go to Get paid & pay or Expenses.
  2. Head to the Vendors tab, then open the appropriate profile.
  3. Add a blank line at the top of their actual address.
  4. Hit Save to confirm the changes.

I know that this might not be the seamless solution you were hoping for, but it could serve as an interim measure to address your immediate needs.

Furthermore, I want to stress the significance of your feedback. Your insights are crucial to us as we continually refine and enhance our platform. I encourage you to share your thoughts about this feature directly with our software engineers. Your voice plays a pivotal role in shaping the direction of future updates and improvements.

I agree, it looks very unprofessional.  I'm not taping anything, just folding and refolding to get the address to set correctly.  I agree that this should not be a problem for Quick Books to fix.  People will be migrating to ACH's soon and then we won't need the checks nor the envelopes soon. I'd rather not go to ACH. I am old school and like calculating the time it will take the checks to arrive and have those check numbers ready if anyone calls about payment.  Please fix this soon Quick Books!!

I can't believe 5 years later and this hasn't been fixed.  Just a QB endorsed work around that is time consuming.  I have been on QB for 9 years.  I never had a problem until today.  Suddenly the address no longer fits in the window.  So dumb.
