Desktop app for QBO running extremely slow

I am having an issue with the desktop app running extremely slow over the past two weeks.  Prior to this time it was very efficient.  Now if I change company from the dropdown list, it takes 2-3 minutes to complete the change. In addition, I have to refresh or the company data does not change.  Any suggestions?

I have options to help improve the performance of the desktop app.

 

First, you can reset your app data. Here's how: 

 

  1. Open the QBO desktop app.
  2. Log in to your company, then click the Help menu.
  3. Select Reset App Data.

 

If the issue persists, you can uninstall and re-install the desktop app for QBO. You can also log in to your account in your web browser.

Having similar issues. The option to install the App does not appear in my Settings menu like these instructions say. I got support to send me a link to download the exe, but it gives me errors saying servers are down and to try again. What the heck is going on?! I got payroll I need to do.

I tried both options and neither improved the functionality.  It is very frustrating just sitting around waiting for data to load.  Not sure where to go from here

   1. In your QBO company, go to Help (?).

   2. Select either of these tabs:

  • Assistant tab and type Talk to a human.
  • Search tab and click on Contact us to connect with a support expert.

    3. Choose how you want to reach us (phone or chat).

what if your HELP menu doesn't have a "reset app" selection?

QB desktop 2024 version V23.1 started running extremely slow about a week ago.  Like watching paint dry.  Online comments say to use Help menu to "reset app" but that choice is not available.  Anyone have a solve?  It's unusable in this condition.

The Reset App button is only available for the QuickBooks Online desktop app. However, I'm here to help you fix your QuickBooks Desktop so that it can start running fast and be usable again.

 

There are different reasons why you're encountering this. Here are some of the following:

 

  • Your computer must have exceeded the minimum system requirements. If you barely meet the minimum requirements, you'll encounter slow performances like this, which could cause an unusable condition. 
  • Slow performance also happens when your computer is running out of storage space or is using too much-cached memory from other running software. Ensure that your local storage has at least 20% free space to let your storage work properly and close all unnecessary apps that are running in the background.

 

Other than that, you can also troubleshoot your QuickBooks Desktop by using the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Here's how:

 

  1. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.8) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Follow the steps you see on the screen and agree to the terms and conditions to install.
  4. When the installation finishes, open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
