Has this issue been resolved yet? I went to reinstall QB Pro 2020 on another PC and it wont launch. I am getting the error "internet explorer is turned off..."
Well i have IE 11 on this machine but MS has disable it and points me to Edge (who uses Edge again?)
I need a solution ASAP, QB! Immediately.
Loren.
Try the workaround mentioned by pcsdpo

Let me add some information and make sure you're able to open and use QuickBooks Desktop.
Each version of QuickBooks has its corresponding system requirements. For QuickBooks Desktop 2020, it requires an Internet Explorer 11 as your browser. Since it's an updated software, it should work with an updated browser to be able to run QuickBooks seamlessly.
Also, make sure to set Internet Explorer as your default browser. Let me show you the steps on how to set it up.
Here's how:
Furthermore, if you still encounter some errors, check out this link to help you fix QuickBooks Desktop install errors.
You're always welcome to post or reply below for any follow-up questions about QuickBooks Desktop. I'd be happy to assist. Take care and have a good day!
This worked for me:
If IE is completely gone from your computer, try this.
Click on Start then Settings. Go to Apps | Apps and Features. If you don't see Internet Explorer, click on Manage Optional Features then Add A Feature. You should be able to add or enable it. Restart your computer when done so it takes effect.
My issue isn't with IE - it's still on my computer and QB opens fine. It's that MY BANKS will not allow me to access their sites with IE. So now I have to manually enter HUNDREDS of transactions a month into QB.
So not happy.
YES!!! This is what I've been saying all along!!!
Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, dianaakaccounting. This isn't the kind of feeling I'd like you to experience about downloading bank data in QuickBooks Desktop. With this, let me share details on how entries work in our program and ensure you'll be routed to the right support team to assist you further on this matter.
When downloading bank transactions to QuickBooks Desktop, there are some things to keep in mind so your entries are imported into our program accurately. Please see the details below:
Also, one of the reasons why bank transactions won't download in QBDT is because of bank system errors. We need to make sure that they don't have any maintenance and want to check your bank's website to see if there are notifications or alerts.
If everything is in order and the problem persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop. They have the tools to pull up your account and be able to investigate the cause of the issue.
Here's how to reach them:
Lastly, you may refer to this article to view various OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QBDT and how to fix them: Fix OL and OLSU Bank Feeds errors in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please let me if you still have questions or concerns about downloading transactions. I want to make sure that everything is taken care of. I'm here to provide any additional assistance if needed. Have a good one!
Thanks for all that great info that totally doesn't solve my problem. I've been able to import my bank transactions into QB Desktop for more than 3 years. Last December, both banks stopped allowing access to their systems with an outdated, unsupported, insecure browser that Intuit continues to require me to use.
I'm totally perplexed how your company can justify this incredibly poor planning and worse customer service.
This has absolutely nothing to do with fixing my issue. This is a QB issue!! QB opens the bank feeds automatically in IE and we cannot change that within bank feeds. The banks are with current times, and have moved on beyond IE and are using other browsers. QB has not moved forward with time and is still stuck in using IE for bank feeds and the bank feeds will not open. QB needs to fix this WITHIN THE BANK FEEDS where we have no control on our end.
This is completely absurd! I just spent 2 hours with QB support and countless hours researching threads (like this) with loads of potential solutions, but nothing that works.
This is crazy. Intuit is 'requiring' QB have a browser installed that will be completely and entirely unsupported in less than a month. I CANNOT OPEN QUICKBOOKS TO TRANSACT BUSINESS.
Cutting to the chase:
I need a solution for this ASAP and a recommendation on a QuickBooks replacement. For the money they charge, this is complete and utter bull$hit.
I need someone from LEVEL 2 support or higher to call me now. You can get my contact info from my account.
This is not the kind of service we want you to experience while using QuickBooks, cjvezeau.
I want to make sure I’ll be able to give you the right resolution and get you back in working order.
The easiest way to get a next-level escalation is by contacting our Customer Support Team again. They have the tools to escalate the issue if need be. However, they'll also try a few basic troubleshooting steps to help resolve the problem first before escalating it.
Here's how to get in touch with them:
Aside from that, you can start a chat session with our representatives, too. You can use this link for reference: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.
Please continue to reach out to me if I can be of help while you're working in QuickBooks Desktop or if you have any other program-related concerns. I'm always here to help you out.
Try reinstalling your QBD 2022 in Win 8 compatibility mode on Win 11.
Thank you for the useless response. You obviously DO NOT understand - or didn't read - the error.
I CANNOT OPEN QUICKBOOKS! How can I request support from WITHIN QB if I can't open QB?!?!?
After reading all the other frustrated users and talking with QB support, it is obvious to me that:
Hello, cjvezeau.
This isn't what we want you to experience when reaching out to us for help. Let me give steps to point you to the right direction.
Since you can't get into your product, you can reach out to our Customer Care Team by following the steps below. Please take note that our support hours for QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Plus starts from M-F 6 AM to 6 PM. For the Enterprise version, we're available any time, any day.

I'll be right here if you need help with other concerns in your account. Just leave a reply below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
You are absolutely correct! I run a small business and do not need all the bells and whistles. I a live out in the country and do not have reliable internet connections. I do not need to be connected to my bank account. I was disgusted with QB's move to an online-only product. What I want and NEED is a desktop version that is a one time purchase with the option to pay to upgrade as my business grows and needs additional functionality. I am currently searching for another accounting product and will dump QBs as soon as I find one that meets my needs. And, if I have to, I still know how to use a pencil and paper folks!!!
Fiat, I purchased and was running QB Pro 2021 Desktop until last Fall when Microsoft's update deleted IE11 and it's .exe from computers completely. Try to reinstall all you want and pay an IT guy all you want, it's not going to work and QB Desktop is COMPLETELY USELESS now.
I STRONGLY suggest people switch to QB Online ASAP if they can even still get into their QB Desktop until Intuit actually fixes their desktop program to utilize ANY browser. Otherwise, find another bookkeeping program and move on. I've been saying this for over half a year now and apparently Intuit isn't interested in actually repairing anything. June is two weeks away and Microsoft gave Intuit YEARS to get this fixed.

so grateful for this. The combination of Intuit and Microsoft has always been a struggle and a nightmare.
Not the best solution, but I think this is one way around it. Works if you're not dependent on the Home page window that shows all the workflow icons when opening QB.
Your company file is likely set to open the "Home Page" window when you launch QB, Try to 'X' it out as soon as it opens to prevent QB from looking for IE11. (you have to do it quickly like you're playing a game) Then go to Edit -> Prefrences -> Desktop View and disable "Show Home page...when opening..." While you're there, you might as well go to "General" and put a check mark on "Turn off pop-up messages for products and services." I hope this helps.
Has there been a resolution to this? Microsoft retired Internet Explorer, so the options in this thread (to reinstall or enable it) are no longer possible. I have 15 years of data in QuickBooks and run my business using it--I'm f'd.
FWIW, I'm running Windows 10 and QB 2020.
Adding Internet Explorer "as a feature" is no longer possible because Internet Explorer has been retired.

Have you tried the workaround mentioned by abetterfuture earlier?
Which Win 10 build version do you run?
Regarding abetterfuture's suggestion, I never see the QB window (just the message in a dialog box, after which QB closes), so I never have a chance to do the quick "X" click to close the Home page. I'd be fine without the home page, but my business will collapse if I can't pay bills, reconcile my accounts, and reference past activity for taxes (etc). Thanks for the suggestion, though!
I am running Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H1. I'm unsure which build removed Internet Explorer. I see a cumulative update, KB5014699 on 6/15/22, but that KB article doesn't mention the removal of IE.

I'm not sure but it seems the problem always occurs on the Windows 10 Pro version. I am running QBD 2018 and 2021 on Win 10 Home 21H2 build 19044. Consider to install the trial version for QBD 2015 in Win 7 compatibility mode on your Windows 10.
