Intuit Data Protect not able to login after logging out - Asking to purchase

Hi.  So i recently had quickbooks on another desktop and I moved desktops, I also moved the company file so its saved in a cloud-folder.  It opens on both computer but on the new computer, it is asking me to purchase either a monthly or yearly subscription of intuit data protect.

However, on the original computer, I signed up for the "file only" intuit data protect which still works.  So i logged out and now I am getting the same issue where it's asking to buy a new product.

This was done back in september, and here is the copy.  The funny thing is, this option isn't even available anymore, but since I paid for the year, i'm upset I cant find a way to log back in.

If it's an issue with changing computers, I can't login with the original computer that had the file and backup either.  Help?

Intuit Data Protect not able to login after logging out - Asking to purchase

Hi CAPIACARES,

Let's try restoring your file using Intuit Data Protect to get past the prompt to purchase. Let me guide you how.

  1. Follow the steps to create a back up of your company file on your original computer.
  2. Sign in to IDP on your new computer. You can also go to File, Back Up Company, and then Set Up/Activate Online Backup.
  3. Follow the steps to restore the backup file using IDP.

If you're getting the same results, please contact our Customer Care Support so we can check your file and assist you further.

Intuit Data Protect not able to login after logging out - Asking to purchase

I am given no option to sign in on new computer. The only option is purchase. The backup still works fine on the old computer and I won’t risk losing it by doing any trouble shooting there. How can I get the data protect on the new computer to show a login option?

Intuit Data Protect not able to login after logging out - Asking to purchase

Welcome to this thread, SusanTB.

I will walk you through the process of moving your data from an old computer to the new one.

Before you start moving your data to a new computer, make sure you install QuickBooks Desktop on that computer. Then,  create a backup company file on your original computer. This is just in case there'll be some data loss. Once done, follow the steps below:

  1. When you save the backup file, give it a unique name so it's easy to identify. This also prevents accidental overwrites.
  2. Save the backup file somewhere you can easily find it, like your Windows desktop.
  3. Move the backup company file to your new computer. You can either put the backup on a flash drive or an external device. Or you can share it if your new computer is on the same network.
  4. Follow the steps to restore the backup on your new computer. Remember, it should have a unique file name.
  5. If you use payroll, download the latest tax table after you move your file.

Read through this article for the whole process of moving your account from one computer to another: Move your company files to another computer.

Once done, you can now start setting up your Intuit Data Protect.

Here's how:

  1. Click Help inside QuickBooks.
  2. Go to QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter "Refund inquiry" in the description field, then click Continue.
  5. Select either Message an Agent or Talk to a Specialist.
