I created a design for our company's invoices via quickbooks online and saved it. We only have 1 "custom form style" set up in quickbooks, which I want to use for our invoicing. Problem is when I actually go to create an invoice and preview the PDF it doesn't look exactly like my design. Can I fix this so my design translates to the actual invoice generated?
I've attached a pic showing the design screen and an invoice I previewed/downloaded to pdf and drew arrows pointing out the differences. The actual invoice looks sloppy compared to the design. Invoice number is gigantic and spans 2 rows, there is a surprise white line in the "due date" box, and the "total due" field has a broken purple background.
Can this be fixed
Thank you for providing detailed information about your concern, @BrianQW. I can help you with fixing the previewed form style in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Setting up our own preferences when creating form styles in QBO helps reflect your brand identity.
To obtain your desired template, I suggest you update your Adobe PDF reader. This aids in the provision of new features and read designs that were not available in the previous patch.
Furthermore, you can utilize this article on how to update, repair, or re-install Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
If the same issue persists, I recommend proceeding with basic browser troubleshooting. A stored cache on the computer can cause unexpected behavior in the application.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:
If it works, kindly proceed with clearing your cache. This helps improve the performance of the application.
You can also refer to this article for other supported browsers while using QBO.
On the other hand, checking this article can help you fix QuickBooks Online printing issues on browsers for Windows.

Hi RoseJillB,
Thanks for the reply. My Adobe Acrobat Pro DC is on the latest version according to the "check for updates" feature. 21.007.20099. The same goes for MS Edge Version 96.0.1054.43 (Official build) (64-bit). I further tried to use Google Chrome Version 96.0.4664.93 (Official Build) (64-bit) but the sloppy elements are still there.
To triple check that it isn't an issue of out of date software I've asked 2 other employees at our company to view the pdf invoice on their machines as well as 2 of our customers whom I invoiced, all are seeing the same thing as my pic shows on the right. I used the feature where quickbooks automatically emails invoices to customers and attaches the pdf version, so I am not generating the pdf myself and emailing a broken PDF, it's coming straight from quickbooks online ([email address removed]).
Anything else I can try within quickbooks?
If not I think I'll change the template from "Fresh" to "Airy classic". It still doesn't generate a PDF that looks exactly like the preview, but the sloppiness of the pdf is less noticeable.
Hello there, BrianQW.
We can try other troubleshooting steps that will help us verify the PDF generated within the system is the issue.
You'll want to open a PDF file within your computer and try viewing and printing them. If the invoice form looks as expected within your end, and looks differently within your customer's end, you can let them try the troubleshooting steps shared by RoseJillB.
