I have Intuit Data Protect, which is working fine. However, when I went to restore a file the other day, although the history shows there are successful backups, I click on "restore from backup", and it does it's file loading thing, nothing comes up in the restore page. See attachment.
I talked to a few QB folks via chat two weeks ago, one gal ran me through a few steps and was very helpful at trying things, then I got disconnected from her. The next guy I got connected with couldn't figure it out and said he would be in touch with me, but I haven't heard back from him. Then one who wasn't much help at all that I spoke to today.....
Thank you for the detailed information, @scotley.
We can perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this issue. Rest assured that I'll help you get this sorted out.
First, you'll need to make sure that you've updated QuickBooks and Intuit Data Protect (IDP) to the most recent release.
Then, you may consider logging out of your IDP.
Here's how:
Next, sign in your Intuit account from the company file. I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team to access and verify your Intuit account securely.
Here's how to sign in:
Once done, check out this article to activate your IDP: Set up Intuit Data Protect

I am having the same issue and the process listed did not resolve my issue. I do not see the IDP troubleshoot in menu
Things for bringing this to our attention, Effiebar,
Third-party antivirus software on your computer can block Intuit Data Protect (IDP) to back up your files. You'll want to allow the access by adding important files to the Windows firewall.
I'm glad to show you how:
After that, make sure IDP is added as a trusted site in Internet Explorer. It will help transmit your files.
The following steps will guide you through:
After that re-open the Intuit Data Protect certificate site to avoid errors with your backups. Then, try to back up with Intuit Data Protect.
If it’s still not working, you can also refer to this article and follow Solution 2: Fix issues when you can’t back up your QuickBooks Desktop data file with Intuit Data Protect.

I have been using Intuit Data Protect for a while with no issues. I felt secure knowing my files were safe, per the daily email I received. My computer crashed. It was beyond repair. New computer. I've downloaded QB Desktop Pro Plus 2022 using my same license number. I couldn't find any files to restore from. Over an hour with phone support & I still do not have my files. Thankfully I had backed up two weeks ago on a flash drive. But I've done a lot of work in that time. Per phone support, I restored my flash drive back up. I was told once that was done, Intuit Data Protect would then be able to find my backups. It still shows no backups. I have read everything I can find about IDP. Most articles are about installing, setting up, but none explain how I can retrieve my missing files. IF they were saved to the cloud there must be a way to have access to them. I have now spent the day trying to resolve this issue. If I do not have access to my files, what am I paying for? Please advise. I do not want to work in QB until this is resolved.
Hello dyr, I know you're putting so much effort and time to get this resolved.
QuickBooks Desktop has a feature called Auto Data Recovery (ADR). This function will create a local backup copy of your company file for you automatically. An additional folder with a few new files may appear on your PC. This is the QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery folder, which will automatically appear. To maximize this feature, make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop always has the latest updates.
Please refer to this article for more details: Recover lost data with QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery.

Please let me know how the steps and instructions in the articles works for you. I'll be around whenever you need further assistance, dyr.
Thank you for the information. I will work on that 1st thing tomorrow.
I hope it will find my files. Fingers crossed.
Can you explain why I cannot see my files in Intuit Data Protect?
Thank you again for your answer.
This was not helpful.
My computer crashed. I have a new computer. I had a backup on a flash drive that's 2 weeks old. My backup is not damaged or corrupt. I would like to restore the backup from Inuit Data Protect as it is current. However, once I downloaded QB, intuit data protect does not recognized that I have backups from before. I was advised to restore my old backup, then IDP would be able to find my last backup through it's service. I followed the directions. IDP still reflects I've never backed up. Where do I find my files that IDP was suppose to be storing in the cloud. There must be a way to find them. I know that IDP had been backing up my files, daily. If you could help me find my IDP back up that would be great.
