I have been having issues with portable files. I am able to create and save in a client folder. However, when I hover over the file with my cursor, the file and folder disappear. This also happens when I save the portable file to a flash drive. I've had our IT people look at it and they have not been able to figure it out. Has anyone else had this happen?
I know it's hard being unable to save the portable file, Pam1964.
Let me make it up to you by ensuring this gets resolved.
Missing portable files when saving them to a folder or a flash drive can be caused by data issues.
To rectify this, let's run the Verify and Rebuild Data utility. The tool scan data issues and self-resolves them. I'll show you how.
To verify data:
To rebuild data:
If the issue persists, let's use the QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix company file issues in the program.

Please update us if you have additional concerns in managing the file. I'll be happy to assist until you save the changes. Keep safe always!
Unfortunately, that did not work. There were no errors or issues when I did the verify data or rebuild. I am able to create and save the portable file to my file folder. I can see it when I open up that folder that the portable file has been saved. It's when I take my cursor and hover over the file itself so that I can attach it to an email and send back to my client is when it disappears. The file and folder all disappear.
I've created portable files from different clients to rule out that it is just with one client's company file. It's not, it happens with any portable file I create.
Thanks for following the suggested troubleshooting, @Pam1964. Since that didn't work, I have another steps to resolve the issue.
First off, let's make sure your QuickBooks is updated to the latest release.
Here's how:
Once done, backup your data file, then create a portable copy. Format your USB flashdrive first to make sure it isn't corrupted before saving the portable copy.

That did not work either. I was able to save it to a flash drive, but when I went to attach the file to an email, I hovered over the file and it disappeared. I also saved it on my network and when I went to attach the file, it did the same exact thing.
