However, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. After that date, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates, and QuickBooks will also no longer support running on that operating system.

That means you don’t have to upgrade right away, but we do recommend planning ahead. Moving to Windows 11 (or a newer supported operating system) before October 2025 will help keep your QuickBooks data safe, including sensitive customer and employee information, and ensure you remain fully supported.

I have QBs Accountant Desktop 2024 - If I haven't upgraded to ver 11 as of October 14, will I still be able to use my program for payroll purposes?   Seems I need to get a new computer as mine isn't compatible to 11.

Yes, you can upload your client's information by updating their company file to the version you're using to ensure compatibility. The file will remain accessible as long as the QuickBooks Desktop version matches the company file's version year.

Please note that this process is irreversible. Once the company file is converted, it can't be reverted. Since the company file has been updated, you can't transfer the information back to your client.
