QB Enterprise on Windows 10 after Oct 14 2025

I read the article, but it doesn't mention QB Enterprise https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/money-movement/microsoft-ending-suppo...

We can pay for Windows 10 security updates for at least a year longer, I don't want to replace a bunch of good PCs, and we have custom software that integrates with QB. Is Intuit going to block me from using desktop Enterprise after October 14? Or limit its use in any way? We do not use QB for payroll, credit card processing, or any other service.

No. You can still run QB Desktop 2024 after October 2024.

QB Enterprise on Windows 10 after Oct 14 2025

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community, @pt123.

How are you doing today? I hope all is well.

You can continue using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise on Windows 10 for now. QuickBooks is fully supported on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. However, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. After that date, Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates, and QuickBooks will also no longer support running on that operating system.

That means you don’t have to upgrade right away, but we do recommend planning ahead. Moving to Windows 11 (or a newer supported operating system) before October 2025 will help keep your QuickBooks data safe, including sensitive customer and employee information, and ensure you remain fully supported.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Take care!

QB Enterprise on Windows 10 after Oct 14 2025

Appears QuickBooks is recommending to upgrade to Windows 11 due to security updates being discontinued By Microsoft on Oct 14, 2025.

Some are buying Extended service contracts with Microsoft for their Windows 10 O.S.

Will QuickBooks continue to work with those?

Will QuickBooks continue to work and update using the the following version...

I am using Quickbooks Enterprise desktop

I am running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC (Long Term Service Channel) Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763 version 1809

Microsoft states this version will continue to receive security updates until January 9th, 2029

please advise

I understand that there are users of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) having a challenge upgrading to Windows 11 because of the extended contracts they have with the operating system, @MOP56. I also appreciate your gesture for sharing essential details of your concern as well as for asking specific questions to achieve your goal. Nothing to worry, I have information that can answer your queries.

As my colleague stated above, QBDT Enterprise will continue to work even if you do not update your Microsoft Windows to 11. But your QuickBooks data, including sensitive info from customers and employees will be at security risk and you will still be advised to update your operating system to help protect them.

Once the specified date of Microsoft comes that they will no longer provide security updates or support to the older version, QBDT will also follow it.

This means, if QBDT has an update, it might ruin your account or not work because Windows 10 is not a suitable operating system for it, since the new one will have functions that are not available to the previous structure.

For other queries that you forgot to raise here, check out this article to learn more about the future updates Microsoft is implementing: Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 OS.

The security of your business data in QBDT is our utmost priority; that is why implementing updates, especially when it comes to the operating system is essential. Feel free to return here if you need additional clarity with the changes.
