QuickBooks 2019 no longer supported

Hello, Sherry.

I'll clarify the details about QuickBooks' discontinuation and supportability.

We discontinued the services for QuickBooks 2018 (all editions) last May 31st, 2021. We are still supporting QuickBooks 2019 and above until further notice.

I take it that you have QuickBooks 2018. You can still use the program after the discontinuation date. However, updates and online services such as the Bank Feeds and payroll can no longer be used.

More details about the discontinuation can be found here: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.

If you're received an email that wants to click on unknown links or websites (regarding the incorrect discontinuation details), I'd recommend disregarding it to protect your account.

This article can help you identify and handle those fake or phishing emails: Identify suspicious activity and phishing scams

If you're interested to upgrade to a newer version of QuickBooks, you can check this article for details on the process: Upgrade to newer versions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise

Need to process your invoices for your customers? This article can guide you through the process: Create an invoice in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'll address any other concerns you might have regarding the supportability for QuickBooks Desktop versions. If you'd like to take care of your transactions and lists, lay down the details below and I'll help you out.

I am not sure the email was legit. Make sure you are not using QBD Plus with the annual subscription. Login to your CAMPS and check your license status in there.

We're using QB Desktop Enterprise. Today, we got a popup from inside the program that stated:

ALERT:

On May 31, 2022 QUICKBOOKS 2019 will be discontinued.

Payroll services are valid only when you are on a currently supported and registered version of QuickBooks.

If you do not upgrade to a more recent version of QuickBooks before May 31, 2022 you can expect:

YOUR PAYROLL TAX CALCULATIONS WILL BE INCORRECT, YOUR PAYROLL SUBSCRIPTION WILL BE DEACTIVATED, AND YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO SEND PAYROLL, INCLUDING DIRECT DEPOSTIT. INTUIT WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSISTED PAYROLL TAX FORM FILINGS AFTER THE DISCONTINUATION DATE.

To avoid interruptions to your service, purchase and register a supported version of QuickBooks.

Visit quickbooks.com or call (866) 676-9760 M-F 5am-6pm PT. [Message Code 1202].

We tried to upgrade from 2019 to 2021 last year. It was disastrous! Something to do with WebConnector. We had to revert and re-enter a week's worth of transactions. It took many HOURS to fix this problem.

Is it fixed?

@SlovacekTCG

I didn't see any ongoing issue regarding WebConnector of QBD 2021 for the last 3 months. But I saw some postings about the issue on QBD 2022. You should be fine upgrading to QBD 2021.

I got a message stating that 2019 Desktop will no longer be supported May 2022.  Is this true?  If so, we we have to upgrade to 2022?  Please advise and thanks, C

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @Cara Dobbins. Let me share some insights about the discontinuation of QuickBooks Desktop 2019.

You cannot access add-on services for QuickBooks Desktop for Windows 2019 after May 31, 2022. It includes QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Enterprise Solutions v19 in all versions.

If you don't use QuickBooks Desktop 2019 add-on services, your software will continue to function normally. You won't be able to sign up for live technical support or any other Intuit services that work with QuickBooks Desktop. In addition, discontinued versions will not receive security fixes or updates.

You can check on this article to learn more about the process: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.

If you want to upgrade to a newer version of QuickBooks, this article will walk you through the process: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.

You can always leave a comment below if you have follow-up questions with the discontinuation policy or start a new thread if you have any other concerns. I'll be here to lend a hand.

If you are not using any online service (e.g bank feeds, payroll, 3rd party apps), you can still use QBD 2019 normally after May 2022. Otherwise, you should upgrade your version to QBD 2021 with the one time license of QBD 2022 with the annual subscription.

I got the same email, stating QB2019 for Mac will not be supported. Is there a 2022 QB for Mac edition to buy? Yes I need the full support, of online banking. What are the alternatives?

You can purchase QBD Mac 2020 or 2021 with the one time license or QBD 2022 Mac Plus with the annual subscription to upgrade your QBD Mac 2019.

Ok thanks I'll check it out. Strange that the email message did not state this, they only suggested the online version, which I am not interested in.

As of May 2022, QB 2019 is no longer supported.

My question is if I don't use the payroll function and basically use QB to record transactions and do bank reconciliations, do I really need to upgrade?

Hi there, @Trish1998. I'm here to share more details about the discontinuation policy of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) version 2019.

You can still use the QBDT Mac 2019 program so long as you don't need the add-on services. This includes e-services such as tax filing and online banking. If you are going to import your bank transactions manually from your bank's website, you can still use it to do the reconciliation process.

To know more information about the discontinuation policy, you can check out this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy

Furthermore, you can also check our Product Updates page to learn more about the newest news and updates in QuickBooks.

You can always add them in your reply if you have additional questions about the discontinuation policy or any QuickBooks-related topics. I'm always here ready to back you up. Stay safe!

It looks like I can't buy QBD 2021 anymore, at least I can't find it and read QB is not selling it anymore? How could this be going on? What is one supposed to do? I don't want to pay monthly for online.

@XCinLB

Our Intuit reps said that their stock of Mac QBD 2021 for single user and 2 users has sold out. Unless you don't need to buy QBD 2021 Mac for 3 users, consider buying QBD 2021 Pro to run on Parallels as another option.

So which is the cheapest QB version for Mac desktop available now in April 2022? I don't want to pay monthly for online, don't need all that. I will be looking to see if there are other competitor options. This is very disappointing.

I had to finally get QB online even though I have always been opposed to having my financial information online. It has been a lot of work to get things squared away and a complete waste of time. I’m so unhappy with this option. I didn’t want to pay $350 for one year of the desktop version. QB knows there aren’t a lot of choices and make you pay.

Hello there, @Katmac.

I hope you're having a wonderful day. I'm happy to share some information about the service discontinuation policy.

You can access the add-on services and live support for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2019 until May 31, 2022. To preserve your add-on services, you'll have to upgrade to the 2022 version.

If you don't use any of the add-on services or require live technical support, you can continue to use your QBDT 2019. However, if you need a more robust version to keep up with your growing business, you may want to make the upgrade to QBDT Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise 2022. Please take note that these are subscription-based.

Furthermore, check out these articles to learn how the new QBDT 2022 benefits your business:

As long as you don't need to run any online services (e.g payroll, bank feeds, 3rd party apps), you can still use your QBD 2019 for good. You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 to upgrade your version if required.

I am a consultant and need time tracking but from what I just read, the 2022 QBD doesn't offer time entry.  Is this correct? I also use bank feed and about 50% of my clients pay their invoices electronically.  I signed up for billpay.com as an alternative but I just found out that not only will payments be disabled in 11 days, so will the bank feed!  Is this really true?

I just want to voice the fact that I am really angry about this "force" to a bare bones, inferior, extremely expensive product!  I absolutely detest QBO and will not go there but I don't really see any other option and to get what I need, I am going to have to pay $1080 per year!!  If Intuit would improve the usability and price point, I would try it again but I am not paying that much for it!  I also have 3 businesses so I need to know how many company files QBO allows or am I going to have to pay $1080 per year times 3!
