QuickBooks Mac 2019 compatibility with the new Monterey MacOS operating system

Hi there, jbean744.

Thank you for visiting again the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing some details on the system requirements and how QuickBooks Desktop 2019 works.

There are system elements that need to follow before you install QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. That said, QBDT 2019 is compatible with At least Mac OS X v10.12 (Sierra); Supported by Mac OS X v10.14 (Mojave), 10.13 (High Sierra). Then, a new Monterey MacOS isn't fit for now.

Once the requirements are good and enough, you can now start installing the QBDT 2019 version. Please open this article to see a step-by-step guide and some things you need to know before you begin: Install and set up QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Please let me know if you have further questions about running QBDT 2019. I'm always happy to step in and lend a hand. Have a great day.

QuickBooks Mac 2019 compatibility with the new Monterey MacOS operating system

Hello there, @jbean744.

I can share information about the system requirements when installing QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

As of now the operating system that's compatible with QBDT MAC installation is at least Mac OS X v10.12 (Sierra); Supported by Mac OS X v10.14 (Mojave), 10.13 (High Sierra).

We'll give information and updates once it's supported. I recommend you visit QuickBooks Blogspot to check.

Feel free to comment on the thread if you have other concerns with QuickBooks and system requirements. We are more than happy to help. Stay safe.

QuickBooks Mac 2019 compatibility with the new Monterey MacOS operating system

@Mich_S

stated, in response to whether Mac Desktop 2019 is compatible with macOS 12 Monterey, "As of now the operating system that's compatible with QBDT MAC installation is at least Mac OS X v10.12 (Sierra); Supported by Mac OS X v10.14 (Mojave), 10.13 (High Sierra)."

I don't believe this statement is correct. Intuit officially stated that 2019 R9 and later will run under Big Sur (and, by implication, Catalina). See: Intuit’s support policy for QuickBooks for Mac running on macOS 11 Big Sur (Updated July 16, 2021) at https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/product-system-requirements/intuit-s-support-policy-for-quickbooks-for-mac-running-on-macos/00/186292

Which doesn't answer whether 2019 will run under Monterey; only that the information provided by Mich_S is incorrect. My guess is that 2019 will not run under Monterey, at least not officially, and not if it will require updates. Until now, it has been Intuit's policy to supply bug fixes, security patches, and compatibility updates for three years (including the year of release). So I am guessing that 2019 (which actually shipped in fall 2018) has reached end-of-life. Hopefully, someone from Intuit will provide a clear, definitive answer.

What I don't know is whether Intuit will continue to support and provide updates for Mac Desktop 2020 and 2021, now that they've shipped the subscription-based Mac Plus 2022, the new name for Mac Desktop.

As katherinejoyceO of the QuickBooks Team wrote on 25 October, "the Mac OS version Monterey is only compatible with QBDT for Mac 2021." Does that mean Intuit is abandoning Mac Desktop 2020 a year early?

You're right. QuickBooks Mac 2019 is compatible with macOS 11 Big Sur . QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022 is supported on the latest macOS 12 version. Our product engineers are working as fast as they can to support this new macOS version for other versions of QuickBooks.

I suggest checking the support page  from time to time. This way, you can see the latest news about the compatibility requirements. Rest assured, we'll update it once we get a confirmation that QuickBooks Mac 2019 works with macOS Monterey.

I saw the screenshot.  Is it official?  Are there people who use Quickbooks Desktop Mac 2019 who have upgraded to Monterey and no problems?

The last Mac OS update left us dead in the water for part of a week.

Thanks!!

Happy to provide clarifications on the compatibility of these versions in QuickBooks. Thus, the confusion will be eliminated, SandyAfrica.

As long as you meet the minimum operating system requirements for QuickBooks Mac, you'll be able to run and apply updates, including the R13 release.

But before that, I'd suggest backing up your company file for future use.

Each version of the Mac platform has different operating system requirements:

  • QuickBooks Mac 2019: At least Mac OS X v10.12 (Sierra); Supported by Mac OS X v10.14 (Mojave), 10.13 (High Sierra).
  • QuickBooks Mac 2020: At least macOS 10.14 (Mojave); supported by macOS 10.14 (Mojave).
  • QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022: An operating system of at least Mac OS X v11.3 (Big Sur) or later.

If you need the full details of the system requirements for QuickBooks Mac, check out this article: System requirements for QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have additional questions about the latest software update. I’ll be glad to answer them for you. Have a great rest of your day.

QuickBooks Mac 2019 compatibility with the new Monterey MacOS operating system

@SandyAfrica

Monterrey was released last year and is supposed to support QBD 2019. One thing is for sure, Ventura doesn't support QBD 2019.

Are there any further updates  as to Quickbooks for Mac 2019 desktop being compatible with Mac OS Monterey?

We were left "Hanging" int the last reply.

Sounded like you were working toward an update that would allow QB for Mac 2019 to work with

Monterey.

Would be nice to see an updated answer.

QuickBooks Mac 2019 compatibility with the new Monterey MacOS operating system

I'd be glad to share some updates, WindsorWest1.

As of now, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2019 is compatible with Monterey. Let's make sure you're in Release 13 to avoid any issues. Beforehand, I'd recommend backing up your company file to restore your data if you encounter problems.

Here's how to update the program:

  1. From the QuickBooks▼ dropdown, select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  2. If a newer version is available, click Install Update.
  3. When prompted, choose Install and Relaunch.
  4. When the update is complete, QuickBooks for Mac automatically opens.

I got your back to ensure you'll be able to print or email an invoice in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, skipwith.

Let's make sure QuickBooks for Mac is up-to-date to have the latest features and fixes. You can download and install QuickBooks updates directly from the application or the product updates page. Let me show you how:

  1. From the QuickBooks dropdown, select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  2. If a newer version is available, tap Install Update.
  3. When prompted, choose Install and Relaunch.
  4. When the update is complete, QuickBooks for Mac automatically opens.

For printer integration/compatibility requirements, you can check out this article: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021. If the same thing happens, we can use the Verify Utility tool to identify if any data needs fixing and the Rebuild utility tool to fix issues found. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data.
  3. If a problem is detected, go to the File menu, then choose Utilities.
  4. Tap Rebuild Data.
  5. Run Verify Data again.
  6. If it still detects a problem, restore a backup.

Then, run your computer in Safe Boot mode. This helps in figuring out if there’s a conflict between QuickBooks and something installed on your computer. Let me show you how:

  1. Shut down your computer.
  2. Press the Power button, then press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard until you see your Desktop.
  3. Open QuickBooks and try printing a transaction
  4. If you’re unable to reproduce the problem, this might indicate a conflict between QuickBooks and something installed on your computer.
  5. Return to normal mode by restarting your computer without pressing anything.
  6. If the issue persists in normal mode, contact an IT professional.

I'm also adding this article to view various details about the updates, enhancements, and fixes that were made to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021: What’s new in QuickBooks Desktop 2021 Mac.
