Quickbooks Software Update

I went to log into my QuickBooks today and I couldn't log in.  I have a window that pops up saying there is a software update and I don't have required permissions.  I called the support at [phone number removed], and they said they need to remote into my computer.  My IT department will not let anyone remote in and the support.me website is blocked.  So I asked if their is any way they can walk me through it.  So far I have been hung up on a couple times.  One person told me to call [phone number removed].  I called that number but the only way to get help is to be logged into my QuckBooks, which I can't get into.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Quickbooks Software Update

I've got other solutions to get past the error you're getting, @Aces11.

The error "There's a new QuickBooks software update waiting for you. Look like you don't have the required permissions" occurs when:

  • QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) isn't run as an administrator.
  • There are pending QuickBooks updates that need attention.

I have the fixes needed to get rid of this error. First, please ensure to run QBDT as an administrator. To do that, right-click on the QuickBooks icon, and then select Run as administrator.

After that, please enter the correct login credentials when accessing your company file. If you're still unable to do so, you can reset your password manually. Otherwise, you can use our Automated password reset Tool.

Once successful, let's update QBDT to the latest release to have the needed features and patches. Before doing so, please ensure that you're in a single-user mode. To do this, go to the File menu at the top and then select Switch to Single-user Mode.

Here's how to update your QBDT:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the top, and then choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select the Options tab, and then click Mark All.
  3. Choose Save.
  4. Proceed to the Update Now tab.
  5. Check the Rest Update box, and then click Get Updates

When the update finishes, close and reopen QBDT. Then, restart your computer to refresh the program and apply all the patches.

For more details about this, please head to this link: Update QuickBooks to the latest release.

In case you're unable to open QBDT in the future, you can refer to this resource for the fixes: QuickBooks Desktop doesn't start or won't open.

You can always lean on me for more account management concerns you may have. I'll be here to help you.

Quickbooks Software Update

When I right click and select “Run as administrator”.  It asks for my username and password.  There is no option there for me to change my password.  On the suggestion above when I select “use automated password rest”, it says For Desktop 2020 and newer I have to change the password within the program.  As of now I and stuck not being able to login as administrator.  I am not sure I know my username even.  I have never had to login as administrator.  Usually I just click and log in with a password.  Any other tips?
