I have received payments throughout the year from clients that I worked for as a subcontractor. That income is recorded in QBSE. Should I record the 1099 (s) I received in QBSE, and if so how? Or should I exclude that income from my reports and just enter the 1099(s) when I file my personal taxes in Turbo Tax?
Nice to see you, @jonelmquist. I'll share some details on how you can file your 1099 forms.
Yes, you'll need to record that income, especially on the contractor side. I'd also suggest you refer to your accountant. They can share additional information and guidance as they know what's best for your business.
QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) allows you to track your income, expenses, mileage, and tax information. Filing the 1099-MISC form in QBSE is unavailable. However, you can ask your employer or client to send the invite to fill out your W-9 using the email address you use to sign in to your QBSE account.
Here's how:

You will report the income you have already recorded in qbse. You do not enter a 1099 like you would do a w-2.
RE: " Filing the 1099-MISC form in QBSE is unavailable." Is this functionality going to be available in QBSE in 2023? I don't want to invite my customers to send information to QBSE.
What are my other options for handling this income please? I believe that it should be reflected as part of my business income in QBSE.
Thanks for helping me with my confusion.

Hello there, EDH.
QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) doesn't support filing 1099 forms, as it's designed for self-employed individuals, while 1099 forms are for reporting payments to contractors. We don't have any updates if this is available soon.
Additionally, you can handle income by categorizing your transactions. If you're unsure about the business income to use, I suggest seeking guidance from your accountant. It'll help you choose the correct account and organize your income for better financial management and tax reporting.
Furthermore, you also have the option to file a 1099 using TurboTax.
Moreover, I'll be adding the following articles to help manage your transactions and create custom categories in QBSE:
