To avoid the user from disconnecting and aborting when using QuickBooks Desktop, you may need to set its login time out from the Company Preferences.
Here's how:
If you wish to know the different user types and levels of access in QuickBooks, the Create and manage roles in QuickBooks Desktop article will provide you with complete information. This also contains steps on how to review their access.
This should help you get back up and running. Please update me as to how things go. I’ll be here for all of your QuickBooks needs. Stay safe!

I get the same issue, only I can't change the login settings because our company also accepts credit card payments, and we have the credit card protection enabled. Any other ideas on how to fix this?
I can't remember when we started having this issue, but seems like it has been this way for a while. We would just try not to have the file open and not be actively using the program while being open. At times we have a customer or other employee come in to talk for a few minutes, and when we go back to the file, it is locked up and shows the lost connection to the file window with the abort button below.
Thanks for joining the thread, Jos.
I'm here to share some additional solutions for QuickBooks Desktop's aborting issue.

Thank you for this information!
I have been having trouble with this, after updating to the latest version. As a result, I have been on the phone with customer service twice, but the problem continued after doing what they were asking me to do!
You NEED to school the customer service team so they can resolve this issue for people, quickly.
Thanks Again,
Wayne
