How do I Keep my QB connection ( 3 computers) when my computer goes idle?

Best answer by AileneA

Hi there, outfitternb.

Thanks for bringing this attention to us and I'm here to provide some steps to fix the aborting issue in QuickBooks Desktop.

To avoid the user from disconnecting and aborting when using QuickBooks Desktop, you may need to set its login time out from the Company Preferences.

Here's how:

  1. Click Company at the top menu bar.
  2. Select Users from the drop-down list and select Manage Login Settings.
  3. From the Company Preferences, go to Manage Login Settings.
  4. Choose the or 2 Days, or depending on how long you need them to keep signed in.
  5. Press OK.

If you wish to know the different user types and levels of access in QuickBooks, the Create and manage roles in QuickBooks Desktop article will provide you with complete information. This also contains steps on how to review their access.

This should help you get back up and running. Please update me as to how things go. I’ll be here for all of your QuickBooks needs. Stay safe!

We got you, @kylel821. We understand the inconvenience it has caused you. We are here now to provide the troubleshooting steps to help you fix the error you've encountered.

Difficulty in accessing your company file can cause the following error when you try to open or use QuickBooks desktop (QBDT). We can run the Quick Fix My Program from the QuickBooks Tools Hub. This program is a collection of tools that can assist users in fixing serious problems and difficulties they may encounter when using QBDT. We advise using this program on Windows 10, 64-bit, for the best experience.

Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install, then agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub if the installation finishes.

After that, you're now ready to run the Quick Fix My File and QuickBooks File Doctor utility:

  1. From the tool hub, select the Company File Issues tab.
  2. Select Quick Fix My File.
  3. Once the process is completed, click OK and then open QuickBooks again.
  4. If you're still receiving the same message, go back to the tool hub, then click the Company File Issues tab.
  5. Select Run QuickBooks, File Doctor.
  6. Choose your company file from the drop-down menu.
  7. Select Check your file (middle option only), then click Continue.
  8. Enter your QuickBooks admin password, then hit Next.

For additional fixes and other details regarding the error, refer to this article: Error message: Connection Has Been Lost.

We'll be adding this article if you want to learn more details about managing users in QBDT: Create and manage users and roles in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

Please keep us updated about this matter or if you need guidance with managing your company file. We'll be here for you. Have a good one!
