I have a few questions regarding the new version of QB Desktop Pro Plus 2021 w/ Enhanced Payroll - 1 User before I purchase...
1) With the "1 User" disc, can I still put this on two separate laptops: one at home, and one at the office?
2) How many companies will the desktop pro plus support? (same user)
3) How many companies will the 1 year enhanced payroll subscription support? (same user)
4) Will I have any issues carrying over if I decide to go back to Desktop Pro instead of Pro Plus in the future?

Yes, you can install it on different devices. However, we really don't recommend doing it because it may cause company file issues as you try to keep both devices updated.
QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus bundled with Enhanced Payroll, you can add up to 3 EIN or 3 company file. That being said, each QuickBooks Desktop Payroll service has a limit on the number of companies you can add to a single subscription.

I currently have QB Desktop Pro 2020 w/ Enhanced Payroll. It supports me working between my 5 company files, even though the payroll subscription can only be used on 3 of the company files. If I were to upgrade to the Pro Plus 2021 w/ Enhanced payroll...it would no longer support all 5 of my company files, it would only support a total of 3 company files (regardless of how many had payroll service)?

Joining the thread to share some more insights about upgrading your company file. If you are working on a multi-user network, the maximum user seats or licenses for the Pro Plus subscription is up to 3 workstations. This means that those 3 users can work in a company file at the same time.
Also, you may opt not to upgrade to the Plus subscription. Our standalone version Pro 2020 is still supported for up to 3 years until the discontinuation date of May 31st of 2023.

The issue isn't that I need 5 users to be able to access it, it's that I need:
1 User - Myself
to be able to access all 5 of my companies
-Company A
-Company B
-Company C
-Company D
-Company E
on 2 machines
work laptop
home laptop
and have payroll on 3 of those companies.
I can currently do this on my 2020 Desktop Pro w/ Enhanced Payroll that only includes 1 user. Can the 2021 Pro Plus do the same thing, or does it only support 3 company files?

If you're the only user, you can access the company files. You can still do that if you're subscribed to QuickBooks Pro Plus.
With regards to payroll, you can add each company's EIN to your existing subscription. For more information, check this article: Add an EIN to existing Payroll Subscription.

In regard of your prior response. I am planning to buy Quickbooks desktop Pro 2022 with enhanced payroll, but I need more than 3 EINs. Is there another option?

QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced can cater to a maximum of three EINs. You'll want to purchase an additional payroll subscription for the other companies.
