Check vouchers

I just switched from Quickbooks desktop to Quickbooks online. I lined up the checks to print correctly - but the date on the voucher portions prints on the left, right on top of our company name, so the date can't be read. I had purchased new checks a couple of months ago before I even thought of changing to QB online. I was just told that my checks are not compatible with QB online and that I need to purchase new ones from Intuit. I will not do that since I have an almost new box of checks. I need to know how to get the date to print on the vouchers on the right - just like all checks do. Even when I looked at the Intuit marketplace to see what the checks are like, those checks show the date on the vouchers being printed on the right. Also, I updated my Adobe Reader a couple of days ago. So why does it print the date on the left side of the check vouchers??? I need to know how to move the printed date on the vouchers from the left side to the right side.

Hello, @julebear.

Since your Adobe Reader is already updated, let's proceed by setting up the check alignment.

This can be done by following these steps:

  1. On the Print checks setup window, select No, continue setup at the bottom right, twice until you get to Fine-tune alignment page.
  2. Drag the grid inside the large square to the place where it appears on your printout. QuickBooks Online will figure out how to adjust the alignment. QuickBooks Online uses the numbers on the vertical and horizontal to figure where exactly to print the check amount. These numbers change whenever you drag the grid.
  3. After adjusting the grid, print another sample using the steps you used in Method 1 then check the alignment again. Continue to fine-tune until the alignment is OK.
  4. Select View preview and print sample in the lower left, and choose Print icon at the top right.
  5. After the sample is printed on plain paper, hold it up to the light against a check and see if the alignment is correct.
  6. If you still need to do some fine tuning, close the sample and then go back to the grid to make adjustments, then print a fresh sample.
  7. Select Finish Setup when your sample’s alignment looks correct.
  8. (Apply the following changes) Changes should apply to most printer versions – make changes for the options you see below.
    1. Page Scaling: set to None
    2. Auto-Rotate and Center must not be checked.
    3. Make sure that Choose Paper Source by PDF size is check.
    4. If you’re using Adobe Acrobat, these options are slightly different:
      1. Under Page Size & Handling
        • Select Actual Size
        • Select Choose paper source by PDF size
      2. Under Orientation
        • Select Auto portrait/landscape

Check vouchers

This did not correct anything. As I said before, I had already aligned the check so the check prints correctly. What the problem is is the date on the vouchers prints on the left, not the right. Actually, when I check the alignment (following the instructions), there is no date area that shows up. I WANT THE DATE ON THE VOUCHERS TO PRINT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CHECK JUST LIKE ALL CHECKS AND VOUCHERS DO. And as I said before, when I looked at the sample checks that can be purchased from Intuit marketplace, they show the check vouchers printed with the date on the right. Can you please help me with this?????

Please see attached screenshot showing the Intuit marketplace sample check and please notice on this sample that the date on the vouchers prints on the RIGHT side of the check vouchers. The date prints on the LEFT side of the check vouchers for me. This is what I would like help with correcting.

Thanks for providing a screenshot, @julebear.

Let's print your check using a different browser. This way, we can isolate if this is caused by browser-related issues.

If you're using Google Chrome, you can access your account in Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge. To know the requirements on the specs and other supported browsers, check out this article: System requirements for QuickBooks Online.

However, if the date won't still print on the left side of the check, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They can securely pull up your account and have a remote session to view your screen.

  1. Go to the Help (?) icon at the top right.
  2. Select the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern on the dialogue box.
  4. Click Let's talk.
  5. Choose Start messaging to get a representative.

To ensure that you'll be assisted on time, check out our support hours.

As a future reference, you can print checks one at a time or several at a time, check out this article to learn more: Print checks one at a time or in a batch.

Let me know if I can be of additional assistance. I'm just a few clicks away. I hope you have a great day.

I tried it in Firefox. It printed the same! THE DATE DOESN'T EVEN SHOW UP ON THE CHECK AND VOUCHERS IN THE TEST PRINT VIEW AND WHEN I PRINT THE TEST.

HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO CHANGE THE PLACE OF THE DATE ON THE VOUCHERS IF IT DOESN'T EVEN SHOW UP IN THE TEST PREVIEW???????????????????
