Do not have the option to print 1099 Copy B for recipient QuickBooks desktop

I am running Quickbooks Desktop 2021. I usually have the option to print different copies of the 1099. This year, I only have the option to print 1096 and 1099 Copy A which goes to the IRS and has to be e-filed since I have more than 10 contractors/employees. I do not have the option to print Copy B for the recipient and would like to go ahead and give those out while working on learning to E-file this year. Any suggestions?

Do not have the option to print 1099 Copy B for recipient QuickBooks desktop

Hi there, junegerhardt.

Let me get the help you need in printing 1099 Copy B.

QuickBooks allows you to print a 1099 Copy B form. While you don't have the option to do it, let's update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to fix program issues.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the top.
  2. Select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Go to the Update Now tab.
  4. Choose the updates you want to include.
  5. Put a checkmark on the box beside Reset Update.
  6. Click Get Updates

Once done, print 1099 Copy B again. If you encounter any printing issues in the future, consider checking out this article for a guide on what to do: Fix PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

Please let me know if you need anything else about 1099. We'll be here to lend a hand.

I have done the update as suggested and it still is only giving me the option to print the copy that goes to the IRS.

Do not have the option to print 1099 Copy B for recipient QuickBooks desktop

Why does Intuit sell 1099 Copy B for QB Desktop but there is no option to print the 1099 Copy B from 2022 QB Desktop?

Do not have the option to print 1099 Copy B for recipient QuickBooks desktop

Hi there, accounting1025.

I'm here to share some details about printing your 1099 Copy B in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

We can print you 1099s in QBDT. However, the process depends on whether you e-filed them or not.

If you've created and e-filed your forms, you can view, print, email, or mail them. Follow the steps below to perform any of these actions:

  1. From the Dashboard, click on Forms and then Manage Forms.
  2. On the Manage Forms page, select the Payer and Tax Year.
  3. The list of recipients and forms will load.
  4. Click the drop-down under Select, located at the right end of the row for each form, and choose an action to perform for that individual recipient.

If you don't see your forms or don't know if they were submitted yet, please look under Forms, then View/Edit/Submit Forms. Select payer, tax year, and form type. The screen will show any forms not yet filed to the IRS.

For more details, please see this article: Where Can I See My Submitted Forms?.

In case you didn’t e-file your 1099s, you'll need to purchase your 1099 Kit so you can print them. Once you have the kit, please follow the steps below:

  1. Update your QuickBooks Desktop file to the latest release. Be sure to select the Reset Update checkbox. You must be on the latest release for your 1099s to print correctly.
  2. Go to Vendors, then select 1099 Forms, then Print/E-file 1099 Forms. Create your 1099s.
  3. In the Choose a filing method window, select Print 1099-NEC or Print 1099-MISC.
  4. Specify the date range for the forms, then choose OK.
  5. Select all vendors you wish to print 1099s for.
  6. Select Print 1099. Select Print 1096s if printing Form 1096.
  7. Double-check your printer settings, then select Print.

Please keep me posted if you have additional questions about printing payroll forms. I'm always here to help you out.

Do not have the option to print 1099 Copy B for recipient QuickBooks desktop

I am in the same boat as the other two users, however I use Quickbooks Online, which shouldn't need any updates. There is no option to print Copy B which I'm required to send to contractors. I've searched several times through the instructions and this is not addressed.

How can we print Copy B of our 1099s?

Thank you.

Do not have the option to print 1099 Copy B for recipient QuickBooks desktop

Hey y'all, In the past when I've printed 1099's, the blank forms were pre printed with "copy A", Copy B, etc. I would put the copy A forms in the printer, and print the details on it, then put in the B forms, and so on. To my understanding that is still how it works. I did not do the process this year and my team actually e-filed. They said e-filing had a learning curve but they figured it out and said it was way better than printing and mailing.
