Buy nowI spoke with QB customer service. QB no longer sells a desktop that doesn't require annual renewal. They guided me to camps.intuit.com where I downloaded my 2019 QB desktop software (which is mine without annual renewal), restored the latest backup using that software, had to re-input the missing data through today, and now have workable quickbooks that is mine and I can keep. I will not get updated tax tables, etc, but I don't use it for that. With that work around, small businesses can survive with QB if you have a version they sold before they changed everyone to an annual payment business model. Kudos to that customer service rep for very fine service indeed.
I called QB customer service. They no longer sell a desktop product that does not require an annual subscription. She guided me to camps.intuit.com, into my account, where I downloaded the 2019 QB Pro, which is the last QB Pro I bought, which does not require an annual subscription. I restored the last backup using that software. Then I had to manually reinput the data from then until now. But the reward is, I have QB Pro which I can use without annual fees. I will not get any updates, such as new tax tables, but I don't use them. Kudos to a great customer service rep who showed me a work around that I can use.
I have QuickBooks 2022 and it is requiring me to pay a renewal fee and because I haven’t paid the fee it has locked me out. I do not use any of the services that QuickBooks offer. How can I avoid paying a renewal fee so I can continue to use the program? My business is a barber shop and I only use a few functions.
Hello there, Barber14405.
Allow me to share information about your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) subscription.
With QBDT, the service subscriptions are essentially designed to address users in tracking financial functions. If prompted to renew your desktop plan, this would likely require you to renew its subscription.
However, please note that if you wish not to renew, you're unable to either modify your entries or automate your accounting tasks in your account. Also, you'll want to consider securing a backup copy of your company file to ensure you're able to save your accounting data and restore them anytime you want.
Additionally, you can visit this article for more detailed steps when moving your data: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Moreover, you can check out this reference to guide you in restoring your backup file and to learn more about what feature are included in the QBDT 2023 version:
Keep us posted if you have additional questions about managing your account subscription. We'll be right here, willing to help. Have a good one!
If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you should explore a free program. You can use the program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.
Our last renewal was dated March 8, 2023 for the amount of $838.95.
I am getting another email saying renewal will be December 8, 2023....that is nine months since we last paid not annual/12 months. Annual renewal means every 12 months....what is going on??? Reference number for our March 8, 2023 payment is XX-XXXXXXXX and authorization code for payment is XXXXXX. Please explain why we are being billed after nine months. Thank You, Jo May, Boelter's Jewelry Store.
@Jo65 There are a LOT of fraudulent emails going around, that LOOK to be legit from QB. Phishing is a HUGE thing. Scammers will take legit emails and use them to scam us.
I bet that is what you have received. You can reach out to QB "Support" or log in to CAMPS and check the status of your account. camps.intuit.com
Thanks for following along with the thread and sharing your concerns, @Jo65.
Our user, Just_me, is correct. I agree that checking the status of your renewal from our CAMPS website would be the best solution. If you're unsure, you can always contact our Customer Care Team. This way, one of our agents can review your account in a secure environment and investigate this matter further.
I'm including the link to connect with our team directly below:
Please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. Take care!
Log in to your CAMPS immediately and check your license expiration date and other information. If everything is the same as the email you received except the expiration data, it is possible that your CAMPS data has been leaked to fraudsters. You may get a call in the future claiming to be from Intuit asking you to remote your computer to check something. You may consider renewing your license through a partner to minimize any risks. You don't need to use your own credit card later.
That's how they lost me as a customer. I thought quickbooks desktop was the best thing out there! I used it for almost 20 years. We'd get a new package every 3 years, this annual BS is not worth it!
Did you convert to QB Online?
I paid for my renewal for 2023 last year and I was charged again this year. I thought that it was a subscription for 3 years.
Hi there, @krussell3. I'll share details about your subscription charge in QBDT.
Currently, QuickBooks Desktop software is available as an annual subscription that automatically renews with your credit card on file, ensuring uninterrupted service. If you purchased Desktop software via retail, make sure to place your credit card on file for uninterrupted service.
In case you don't renew the subscription, you won't be able to use the software at all. Your company file will remain on your computer, but you'll need to re-activate the service to open or view the data.
On the other hand, you can also go to the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMP) to review where this charge is coming from. For more information on how to use CAMPS and see charges billed to your account, refer to this article: Change, manage, or update your Intuit account with CAMPs.
Also, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Support team. They can check your account in a secure environment and verify this charge. Check this article for detailed guidance in reaching out to our Customer Support: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.
Additionally, I'll be adding these links that will guide you in managing your subscriptions in QuickBooks Desktop:
I'm only a post away if you need more help in managing your QuickBooks Desktop subscription. It's always my pleasure to help you out again. Stay safe.
What happens after three years with the one.time purchase?
Which QB Desktop year version do you have? QB Desktop 2021 with a non subscription license or else?
I'd be glad to provide insight about what will happen with your one-time purchase license after three years, @Cdct.
For stand-alone license or one-time purchase, you'll still have the ability to use the product and access your file after three years. However, all the online services will be discontinued and you won't be able to receive any important security updates from us. As a result, you'll no longer be able to use the following features:
For reference and additional details, please visit this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.
If you encounter any registration error messages in the future, you can refer to this article: Fix license, validation, and registration errors in QuickBooks Desktop.
Feel free to reply to this post if you have further questions about managing your subscriptions. I am always here to assist you.
I seem to see that an update was installed about 3 weeks ago but when I try to go to enter information to print a check, a box appears that says I am in view only mode and because of that I need to upgrade my QuickBooks desktop software, I guess.
Please tell me how to do that without a bunch of hassle as I have a packed day at my desktop and need to get started
Thank you in advance
