Email phishing?

This is a re-post (edited) as I seem to have been in the wrong forum.

I'm an accountant currently using Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2020 with a subscription to Intuit Quickbooks Payroll (annual). Having used different versions of QB through the years I'm a little nervous with what I'm encountering. In the last several weeks I'm receiving numerous emails from "IntuitPayrollServices @ payrollservices. intuit. com" giving me different payroll service keys for my Enhanced Payroll for Accountants. When I called support (we don't open random emails) I was told Quickbooks never sends service keys via email & was told there is no such address as that for QB or Intuit.  Can someone tell me just how concerned I should be? The emails used my full name and full company name so I'm hard pressed to think it's random. How does this happen?

Email phishing?

Hi there, @terridowd.

There are many reasons in today's environment to be cautious of email that seems in any way suspicious. Some email messages might be phishing scams, viruses, and other malicious software.

Intuit uses different email addresses to communicate with its customers. If you've received one that you believe is from us, you may use the information on this link to check if it's legitimate.

If the email you received looks suspicious, please forward it to the phishing/spoofing e-mail page so we can review it. You can also visit this link http://security.intuit.com. This is where Intuit's security team posts information about SPAM and Phishing email attempts.

However, if the email is coming from Intuit. I'd suggest going to your email and find its title, which is “Urgent Payroll Issue.” Then, review the details listed in the email your getting. You can also contact our Customer Support Team. They can check the email you're getting and further investigate this.

For a complete guide on how to recognize suspicious emails and know legit email address from Intuit, you can visit this article:

• Receive important email messages from Intuit

• Recognize and report suspicious emails (Phishing)

I've added this article for future reference. It contains FAQS about payroll: All Online Payroll - NSF Holds.

If I can be of any additional assistance, please don't hesitate to leave a reply below. Stay safe and have a great rest of the weekend.
