Error code -6189, -66 when running QB Enterprise Desktop on Windows 11

I am running QuickBooks Enterprise Retail V21 R14 in multi-user mode from a Windows Server 2019.  I had a laptop fail and bought a new device that came with Windows 11.  The user when using QB is getting a warning message every 60 seconds or so Error Code -6189 -66 - picture attached.

The error starts to pop up before the user can even log into the database.  All of the other users are on Windows 10 and have no problems.  I have rebuilt the database with no issues.  We have repaired the install, uninstalled and reinstalled, used QB Tool Hub, yet the problem still persists.  Windows updates are current.

@jbice333

The error message is very suspicious. How did you get the installer file?

I am having the exact same issue. What did support tell you when you contacted them? I was told my data files in my old version of QBDT were corrupted and were causing the error codes, and eventually those files would shut down. What did you learn? I would appreciate the opportunity to learn from your situation. I installed my new QBDTversion on a different computer running W10 and the files worked fine with no error codes.

So, I followed the process for resolving Error Code -6189, -816, even though this is not the error code that I was receiving.

Solution 1: running QuickBooks Tool Hub did not work.

However, following Solution 2, resolved the issue for me.  I shut down the laptop, then shut down the server.  Restarted the Server and opened QuickBooks and the database on the server.  With it still open on the server, I had the user start her laptop and open the database in QuickBooks.  The error went away.

Sorry. Not solved.  I've done every step you've suggested, including talking with support (useless there).  Still happening 5 weeks in.  So angry and frustrated at the wasted time.

Hey - listen up closely everyone who has this error code. My problem is 100% solved. It was malware that was placed on my machine. The window that pops up when you get the error code is part of the malware. The phone number on the window that it says to call is part of the malware. If you call that number - you are calling those who placed the malware on your machine! They tried to sell me support that was several thousand dollars. The phone number of Intuit's fraud line is [removed]. I spoke with this phone number, they pointed me to the files to delete of my machine, and once I did that I have been working in my QB just fine. If you have other questions please let me know!

Hi there, 3rriverview.

Being able to resolve the error is a top priority for us so you can log back in and continue working in the program.

I can see that you've previously contacted our support teams regarding this issue. However, I would still recommend reaching out to them again. The next agent can review the case notes from your previous calls and explore any additional options available to resolve the problem.

I have been dealing with this issue for weeks now.  If this is Malware, why are the support reps not informed of this being a problem.  We should not have to waste weeks on the phone with support only to get the run around.  This is costing my business money!!!

It's still impossible to get help with this issue.  I have been talking with support.  They don't seem to have a solution and have to escalate it.  Then they do call backs after office hours and email me that they tried to callback but got voicemail.  It's so frustrating.  I don't know how you got through to the fraud dept... I wish they would just put me through to them.  I'm waiting on hold again to reach them.  Hold time is 45 mins.  I'm so frustrated.  I switched to QB to save time but so far, it's just costing me more time and money.

The phone number to the fraud dept is [removed by moderator].

But I think QB deletes the number everytime I post it. I wish I had another way to get it to you!

Had the same issue for a couple of months, I finally had a chance to call the number...a mistake, but recognized it was a scam when they wanted to use LogMeIn and couldn't find my ProAdvisor account or didn't have a way to find it with the license number.  I had previously found a thread with a reference to deleting 90s.trf and err.html and that stopped the annoying error message box, but then populated another "can't reach this page" message.  I cleared my cache and undated Windows 11 and so far it seems to have corrected this error.  Intuit uses a program called Glance that you initiate through QuickBooks and they only have the ability to point and highlight things.  Good Luck, this was the most annoying software issue I've had in a long time.
