Exporting payroll

Is anyone else having issues exporting from QBO Payroll Core to QB Plus?  I processed payroll on Monday and have not been able to export the checks.  When I click the export button and chose which transactions to export, I get an error message that says "Error while exporting transactions.  Please try again later."  I submitted a support ticket and was told that their engineers on working to fix it.  I have tried in other browsers and still get the same error.

Is there anyway to export them to Excel and then import that file?

Hi there, Michelle. I appreciate your prompt reply.

I can share the process of exporting payroll data into QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Right now, importing payroll data in QBO is unavailable. While our engineering team are still working on the error you get when exporting your payroll data from QBO Payroll Core to QBO Plus, you can enter your payroll data in QBO instead by making a journal entry or recording them through the prior payroll process.

For more details on entering your employee’s year-to-date paycheck info and company totals, see this article: Add pay history to QuickBooks Online Payroll.

If you don't want to enter your payroll data manually, you can wait for the investigation to be resolved so you can export your payroll data through the Preferences in your payroll account. For more guidance, see this article: Export your payroll data into QuickBooks.

For future reference, here's an article in case you'd want to run reports to view a snapshot of your business: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further concerns, feel free to reach out. Have a great day!

Hello, @ketchm.

I can only imagine how affected your employees, business partners, and contractors are on the current issue. I would also become worried since we're talking about taxes here, and the deadlines are just around the corner.

Thank you for making a follow-up about the error. Upon checking, the reported issue about exporting payroll has been resolved in the last week. However, there's a new ongoing investigation and our engineers are still working and investigating the issue.

I see that you've already called us before. I would still recommend contacting our phone support if you have additional questions or need to add more details about the issue and get more updates about the ongoing issue.

If you need help seeing the payroll data, I'll add this article about running basic payroll reports: Run payroll reports in QuickBooks Online Payroll

You can always drop by here if you have concerns about your taxes or payroll. Reply or create a new thread, and we'll be there to hear you out and lay down a guide or two.

Unfortunately not that I am aware of.  I just tried and got the same error message.  I find it hard to believe that they can't fix this issue.  I am starting to think that it's their way of moving everyone to another platform.

I'll explain why you're getting the error, Michelle.

There's an ongoing issue when you get this error and when exporting payroll. This has been identified as INV-92964. But don't worry, our engineers are working to get this fixed as soon as possible. While we don't have a temporary workaround at the moment, I recommend contacting our support team so you'll be added to the affected list of users. This way, you'll be notified once the issue is fixed.

Furthermore, learn how to complete your payroll setup tasks and fill in your tax information. You'll want to check out this article for more details on how to get started with QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll: Get Started With QuickBooks Online Payroll

Please let me know if you have any other concerns when exporting payroll or anything about payroll. I'll be one post away if you need help or if you need further assistance.

I chatted with Support this morning and was told that the exporting issue was fixed.  I just tried it and it is NOT fixed.  What is the status?

Hi there, TB_Michelle66.

Thanks for getting back to us. I'll help provide an update on the investigation regarding the issue with exporting payroll in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Upon checking, I found that the investigation (INV-92964) has been closed and resolved. However, since you are still experiencing the same issue after attempting to export payroll again, I recommend reaching out to our Payroll Support. Although you have already contacted them, they possess specialized tools that can access your account in a secure environment and determine the reason behind the recurring problem. They can also reopen the ticket for further investigation if necessary.

You can refer to this article for the detailed steps on how to reach them, as well as our Support hours: QuickBooks Online Support.

I'm also adding this article that tackles exporting payroll for future reference: Export your payroll data into QuickBooks.

Please leave a comment if you have follow-up questions about this or anything else. I'm more than willing to assist. Stay safe.

All of the replies from QBs are such bs. I have spent hours, upon hours, on phone calls and in chats, regarding the export problem, to absolutely no avail. This morning I find that the export shortcut is no longer there at all and found the "Help" search completely useless.

I now have to manually split every single paycheck into six different accounts. If we weren't close to selling our business, I would most certainly be looking for another platform.

QBs prices have gone up while their service has tanked. I wouldn't recommend their products to anyone.
