How can I turn off the pop-up advertisements?

Hi all. I hope someone can help me with this. It's getting to be a busy time of year with accounting, and now for some reason I'm getting all manner of popup ads in QuickBooks Online. Just a moment ago, there was a slide-up ad for MailChimp "Try for free" ... Yesterday, it was a series of ads to set up electronic payments, which I already have set up. One of the Electronic Payments ads yesterday was full-screen and interrupted my workflow of processing client invoices. When I tried to hit back to simply get back to what I was working on, I was navigated completely out to the QBO home screen. End result: I lost my train of thought. It's not fun having your work flow disrupted like that.

I have trained myself to ignore the prominent "Cash Flow Analysis" box filled with fictitious sample data on my Business Overview Dashboard. Apparently there is only one way to get rid of that box: connect QBO to my business checking account. In my case, that is neither possible nor desirable. I enter all data manually as a way of being acutely aware of everything that goes on in our business. Maybe I'm missing something obvious on how to get rid of that box?

Surely there must be a setting, somewhere, to permanently opt out of ads / promos within QuickBooks. Dismissing each ad is not the solution I'm looking for, but an actual permanent opt-out checkbox. I'm fine if these ads / promos were moved into a notifications inbox or blog that I could check now and then to see what's new with QBO.

Update: It just happened again. I'm already set up for electronic payments. See screenshot.

We don't want you to feel that way, @DCWGeoff.

The in-app advertising are the new features and enhancements that our developers are currently working on. This is a way of introducing them to our users, like you, our valued customers.

Since it isn't beneficial to your navigation experience, you can consider clicking the sign or No thanks button to remove and get rid of them. While the option is currently unavailable, you can send this request directly to our developers via feedback. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under PROFILE, select Feedback.
  3. Enter a few describing the option to turn off or remove in-app advertisements.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Click Skip and send message.

I'm adding this reference so you're able to track the status of your request as well as the latest updates from our developer team: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

It'll always be my pleasure to help if you've got other questions besides this one. Use the Reply button and leave your comment below so that I can assist you further. Take care always!

Happy Twosday, and thanks for the reply. I have been clicking the X on the below attached advertisement, and yet it keeps coming up. All of these ads and promos are tarnishing my experience with QuickBooks Online. We have started looking for other accounting software packages that are ad-free. Please pass this onto your development / management team.

Thank you.

I understand that you don't want to see these ads while working on your QuickBooks account, DCWGeoff.

These ads are designed to guide and suggest how you can optimize your QuickBooks Online experience. I understand that it affects your navigation when using the product.

You can send feedback about stopping this to our Product Team. Please follow the steps provided by JonpriL. Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QuickBooks.

You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

Don't hesitate to post again if you have other QuickBooks concerns. The Community is always open to helping you.

How can I turn off the pop-up advertisements?

Thank you for the reply MaryLandT.

My "All Sales" page presently has an animated ad to Sign up for Payments. The image is cycling between Mastercard, Visa, Apple Pay, Amex, etc.

I would love to send Feedback, but the Feedback tools is broken. Following the steps provided by JonpriL results in:

1) Safari (MacOS): QBO tab locks up and must be closed

2) Firefox (MacOS): A blank rectangle appears

3) Chrome (MacOS): A blank rectangle appears

Thanks.

The feedback link you provided only allows feedback for

  1. QuickBooks AppTransactions
  2. QuickBooks Invoice Online Checkout
  3. QuickBooks Invoice Payments Portal
  4. QuickBooks Mobile Feedback Forum

The button at the top with the lightbulb icon "Give feedback" takes me to the iOS and Android Mobile Feedback forum (I am trying this from Safari MacOS Desktop).

To which category do you suggest I submit my feedback for QuickBooks Online?

Hello, DCWGeoff.

I'll share additional information about submitting product suggestions using the link provided by my colleague JonpriL. You can select the QuickBooks Invoice Online Checkout since you're working with invoices.

I've also included the following article for your reference in case you'll need to void or refund payments for your customers:

I'm only a post away if you need more help in completing your other tasks in QuickBooks. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.

How can I turn off the pop-up advertisements?

I would be very interested in knowing what your suggestion is on other accounting software, I spend 14 hrs a day working usually about 6 days a week, come home and hope to do about 3.8 seconds of accounting that will cover the week. poor internet connection, older computer, and pop up adds that just won't quit, like a never ending loop of ads that disable the computer. I thought about signing up just to get rid of them, but your post states that even if you have the service you still get ads. hope you have the best of luck, CB

How can I turn off the pop-up advertisements?

I tried to send feedback and it doesn't work.  Support needs to pass on just how annoying this is getting with the ads. I'm going to talk to my accounting.  I entered about a dozen invoices the other day and had to close the ad on each on.  The last straw was when the Save and Send button was replaced with an ad Save and Fund.  That's just mess up.  Not a happy user at all right now.  Tell product to fix this ASAP.

I am still waiting on a response to get rid of the cash flow sample that takes up half the screen. I do not want this service and the advertisement takes away from productivity.

Hello @tknapp1,

I appreciate you for reaching out to us about getting rid of the cash flow sample. Allow me to chime in and share information about your display concern in QuickBooks Online.

I know how the display affects your productivity when navigating QuickBooks. I want to help you get rid of the sample that takes up most of your screen.

However, an option to do so is still unavailable at this time. As we assess this, I encourage you to share your feedback to our product engineers.

We continue to improve the product, and this feature might be available in the future.

Here's how to submit feedback:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Select Feedback under Profile.
  3. Share your feedback.
  4. Hit Next to submit.

Additionally, I've attached an article for your reference about the QuickBooks configuration, like how to set up your sales and expenses in QuickBooks: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online.

Drop me a comment if you have more questions about the QuickBooks display or the advertisements in the Online version. I'm always here to help. Take care.

Literally no customer service would be better than this customer service.

Hello Friends!

I get paid $2.12/hour and will loose my job if I don't remain insanely cheerful no matter what, so get ready for some saccharine nonsense that won't help at all!

I see you're having trouble with an avalanche of annoying and disruptive upsell popups and ads making your work day twice as long as it needs to be. That sounds like a terrible problem friend.

What would be awesome is if there was a setting to turn that off. However, you can't do that, and we're not going to ever do that because our corporate overlords say that disruptive upsells are driving record profits. Huzzah!

Despite the fact that we will only make this issue worse in the future, here are some instructions to take up more of your time with our futile and dystopian "feedback" form:

  • Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  • Select Feedback under Profile.
  • Take a long type typing out your detailed feedback.
  • Wait for browser to crash and start over.

And, since you didn't ask - here are some links to articles that have absolutely nothing to do your question!

  • You're an idiot and probably wondering what "bookkeeping" is.
  • How to click a button.

Have a fantastic day and feel free to drop an endless stream of increasingly hostile comments below if you have any further questions or concerns. I promise to stay upbeat while still giving you no useful information.
