I can see how adding a personal touch to the toolbar can help you easily navigate through QuickBooks. While we don't have this option, I'm going to submit a feature request on my side, which is sent to the Product Development Team for review.

how do I change the tabs on the toolbar?

You mentioned looking for ideas: I'd like to have default tabs in the desktop app. What works well for my business is to have the tabs "Clients", "Invoice," and "Payment" always open. I know there are other workflow options, but this works well for me. So to have the option that these three tabs are automatically opened on startup, would prevent me from having to navigate to the selection I need, open another tab and navigate, open a third and navigate. If default tabs were an option, users could select whatever works for their workflow. Thanks.

The feature request page is no longer available. However, I'm taking note of your ideas and passing it along to our developers for consideration in the near future. 


Having the option to set your own preferences can be beneficial to others. I’ll let you know if there are any changes by updating this thread.

I want to have my tab for estimates a different color from my invoice tab, is there a way to do this?

Able to customize the color for your estimate and invoice tab is currently unavailable. However, you can customize your form templates using the Layout Designer and set color alternate rows on invoices. 

 

Here's how:

  1. Look for the Current Template list at the top of a form.
  2. Choose an existing template and select Edit Current Template, or choose New Template.
  3. Select Format.
  4. Click Document.
  5. Tap the Alternating row box and pick a color.
