I worked with an agent over the phone and we did all this. She determined that I do not have access to the new invoice layout. which seems really odd. She said it was only available for a QBO account not created from a desktop account. Do you know this to be true?
I have no idea. I have never used the desktop version of Quickbooks, so I would think I could move to the new invoice format easily. BUT no one in support has even hinted that it is a possibility for me. I keep reading that I must start a new entity or somehow change to a "New" company file format - but I have no idea what that is. I should call and speak to them but I hate phone support from most of these software companies.
I'm so frustrated... I had all my forms customized to the new layout and went to customize one of them and switched back to the old layout and can't get back. My layouts are all messed up now.
WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED? WHEN CAN WE GET OUR NEW LAYOUTS BACK?
Allow me to help you go back to the new format, Pixil.
QuickBooks Online gives you the option to switch back and forth between the old and new layout. Let me share the steps on how you can do it.
Here's how:

Hello,
That link is no longer there. Please advise an alternative solution.
I was using the new invoice layout and was switched back to the old and can't get back to the new layout.
Thank you
@Pixil The link worked just fine for me.
Thanks for keeping us updated, @Pixil. I’ve got a workaround so you can still manage your sales transactions using the new layout.
Before that, I’d agree with @Just_me's comment. The article provided by my colleague @jenop2 is accessible. You can utilize other supported browsers to view the details.
The new experience for invoices and estimates was rolled out to some QuickBooks Online users only. Some of them were switched back to the old ones. Since you don’t have the option to move back, I have an alternative solution you can use to accomplish it.
When you log in, you can use these links to help you get going:
I’m adding these resources in case you’d like to add specific information to your sales forms and a way to link estimates to invoices to keep your books accurate and intact:

Hi there, mlowitz. I'm here to help ensure you're able to switch back to the old layout for invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
As mentioned by my colleague above, QuickBooks Online gives you the option to switch back and forth between the old and new layouts. To isolate this, let's sign in to your QBO using a private browser (incognito). There are times when the browser is already full of frequently accessed page resources (cache and cookies), causing some unusual responses.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:
Once you've login via a private window, try to switch back to the old invoice layout.
If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. Doing so will remove the historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser.
To learn more about the new layout/experience, consider checking out this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, you can check out this article if you need to personalize your sales forms in the future: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Hello,
I swapped to the old layout to check out the features. Then swapped back and used the program all day. Then randomly it switched me to the old layout and will not let me switch back. Please help. The New layout was much more user-friendly and I would prefer to use it all the time. Thank you
I agree.
I appreciate you for posting your concern here today, @Chris__. I'm here to provide some insights about the tag feature in the new invoice layout format of QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can freely switch back from the old to the new preferences at any time. Just click Try the new invoices from the invoice window and you can continue with your business.
If you are unable to see the button, let's take this to our Customer Support Team so they can investigate what's causing the issue. They can use their tools to look deeper into the system and fix this for you.
Follow the steps on how to reach them:
Refer to this article for more information about the feature: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, you can check out this guide, where you can customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

I have to say, this thread is a joke! I changed one setting and it put me to the old layout and now I’m stuck as well. You read through this thread and QuickBooks literally replied with the same copy/paste 11 times. I desperately need to get back to the new version and I don’t have the option to do so when I do the whole + new invoice thing. I’ve also tried the private browsing. Can we get a solid answer here? This is obviously an issue.
I hear your sentiments and recognize your input, hendriksemarinel.
I noticed that you posted a similar question regarding this issue, and my colleague just answered the other post. In case you haven't noticed the reply, here's the link to that thread: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/reports-and-accounting/i-accidently-clicked-go-to-....

Then why don't you guys just say that there is no way to be able to switch back. How about possibly putting a notice if you switch to the old layout you will not be able to go back to the newer version. This thread has been nothing but misleading and frustrating at best to try and understand. For everyone saying hey just click the new invoice layout link, it's not there. If you try a different browser or if you clear your cache it's still not there.
hi, unfortunately, quickbooks gave me new layout to use for about 2 days, i never switched back to the old layout because its was so easy to use new layout with the payment options on the right side and new much more professional estimate/invoice look, it would be insane if quickbooks would not figure out the way of how to let old customer to use new layout. i tried 4 different browsers ios and windows, tried incognito modes, cleared browsing history, cookies, cache, nothing helped, you press on switch layout button, it shows new layout for 3 seconds and then it goes back to the old layout again, its total glitch from quickbooks and i hope they will make new update ASAP.
This does not work, please stop misleading your customers with wrong information, would be better if you accept the problematic and very frustrating glitch that QuickBooks is currently experiencing and i hope technical team is working hard to fix that asap. tied this on ios, windows and 4 different browsers.
thanks
Quickbooks tech support had me switch to Old Layout so they could try to fix some layout issues and now I can go back. Super frustrating that I was directed to go there and it has made more problems than solved.
It is not the old look. The field orders are different. It's close but have a new GUI that takes up a huge portion of the screen. Data entry is slower.
