How do you turn spell check on?

I'd like to have spell check automatically check spelling as I type and autocorrect it or at least underline it to alert me to fix it. Right now under edit, spelling and grammar there is only one option I can select and all the rest are grayed out and I'm unable to click on them. Please help me figure this out. Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to post here in the Community, @electds1

Currently, there isn't an option to turn on the spell check function.

The other options will be available if you’re typing something in the program, such as creating invoices. If not, the options are grayed out and you’re unable to click on them.

If you want to be more guided with all the processes in QuickBooks for Mac, you can check out this helpful article: User's Guide

You're always welcome to post if you have any other questions, I'll be here to help. Have a good day, @electds1

Open any window in QB where you can create a document, invoice, estimate etc. Now check your edit options.

How do you turn spell check on?

I don't see an option on any page, (not even grayed out). I need spell check for cam members creating invoices. Even while creating an invoice I do not see it in preferences.  I just switched to online Mac from desktop in windows....desktop had spell check, why doesn't online?

You can turn on the spell checker from your browser's settings, @airmods1191.

The spell checker is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. However, you can go to your browser's settings to turn this on.

For Chrome:

  1. Go to the Customize and Control Google Chrome () icon in the upper-right corner of your browser.
  2. Click Settings and select Advanced at the bottom.
  3. Under the Languages section, turn on the Spell check option.

For other browsers, this option usually can be seen under Languages.

Good day, @Dion R,

I can help you further on how to get the browser's spell checker work in QuickBooks Online. Normally, the language will be based on the region you signed up for.

If the spell checker doesn't work, try to configure or update the browser settings to refresh it. Here is an example of how you can enable it in Google Chrome:

  1. Go to Settings, then the select Settings menu item.
  2. Click the Advanced drop-down at the bottom of the page.
  3. In the Languages section, click the Spell Check option.

Additionally, you can try opening your account in a private browser. Unexpected issues in the QuickBooks Online mostly are affected by the large data in the cache. Private browsing will not save your browsing history making it a good place to check for cache issues.

Use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

Clearing the cache can also help resolve browser issues in QBO. You will know when the spell checker works when it generates a wavy red line under the incorrectly spelled word. See this:

Let me know how it goes. I want to make sure this is resolved. Have a good one!
