As of right now, we have no other way, but to click X on the popup message to close it. Some popups will stop coming back when you uncheck the Tips box in the settings. However, the important ones will come back for a couple of days when you access QuickBooks.
Too frequent pop ups, on the other hand, are not normal anymore. If this happens to you, please contact our QB Desktop Support so they can take a closer look at the issue using more tools.
I'm just a comment away if you need more help. Take care and have a great weekend!
NOT! The solution, "Turn off pop-up messages for products and services," is NOT a solution - it does not work. I continue to get annoying, time-wasting messages offering products in which I have no interest, in which I will never be interested and even if I were interested in some way, would NOT purchase them for fear of getting more ads. We purchased the QuickBooks desktop software - we did NOT purchase consulting services. And we only purchased the product because the cost of finding an alternative AND moving to it remained higher than the cost of remaining with the software. That has changed dramatically, however, with the increase in cost to an annual subscription. It is suddenly much cheaper to switch! And we will unless the cost-benefit ratio changes somehow. Yes, all of us who are just done with the egregious theft of our time and attention with useless, self-serving pop-up ads. You must turn off all pop-up ads in the software AT ONCE!
I blocked quicken, intuit, and quickbooks in the url filter of my firewall. We'll see if that helps.
Turns out using the URL filter on my router sufficiently blocked QB from accessing the internet, thus the popups stopped. The problem at that point was it took quite a while for QB to launch, waiting for all the timeouts to clear.
Another search lead me to this page: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/multi-user-mode/set-firewall-security...
Step 3 details how to enable QB through windows firewall. I used this information to do exactly the opposite. Success. QB launches quickly and the popups are gone. This will cause Update Quick Books Desktop to show the Error #120007, and that is the desired and expected result. I believe QB doesn't detect the internet, so it doesn't try to access it.
As a really small business, I don't need any of the internet functions QB offers. This will allow me to continue using QB Desktop without harassment to upgrade to online (crazy expensive for a small business like mine).
Quickbooks Online,
Receiving multiple pop-ups in a single sitting for ads and services that your company is promoting is getting really tedious. To be frank, it feels like a shameless cash grab and is highly disruptive to my workflow/productivity. Please include a feature similar to that of Quickbooks desktop to allow pop-ups to be permanently turned off, or perhaps a "do not show this message again" button. Holding your paying customers hostage and forcefeeding ads is not a good look...
This is more or less user to user support.
Your comments to Intuit are probably not read. Seek another channel for your complaint to be heard.
THIS DOES NOT STOP THE INCESSANT POP-UPS TRYING TO SELL ADDITIONAL EXPENSIVE SERVICES! EVERY TIME I LAUNCH QB PRO DESKTOP I HAVE TO CLOSE NOT ONE BUT TWO ADS TRYING TO SELL ME ADDITIONAL SERVICES I WILL NEVER NEED NOR DO I EVER WANT - DO YOU GET IT??? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? I HATE INTUIT, YOUR CONSTANT PEDDLING AND NICKLE AND DIMING ME TO DEATH IS WHY I TERMINATED QB PAYROLL SERVICES JUNE 2022 IN THE FIRST PLACE, FIRED ALL MY W2 EMPLOYEES, AND NOW USE ONLY CONTRACT VENDORS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, INTUIT. NOW GIVE ME A VIABLE METHOD TO TURN OFF YOUR ADS - NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and forever.
You are a liar! I have Turn off pop-up messages for products and services enabled. Yet every time I login I get some junk add like "Get paid fast, paper free". QuickBooks has become a repulsive product.
The popups are negatively impacting my productivity. Clicking the X to close is easy enough. But the distraction from the anger that is building with each popup is going to make me look for an alternative to quickbooks.
I understand you need to remove pop-ups in QuickBooks Desktop, @lawn. I'll share the steps to submit feedback.
If you are tired of seeing the same messages and would like to turn off pop-ups in QuickBooks Desktop, although these notices can often serve as helpful reminders, some users are working with QuickBooks for a while may already know the ins and outs. Follow these steps to eliminate this feature.
If you are using QuickBooks Online, we can also turn off the pop-up blockers within the browser that you are using. Please choose the browser and follow the steps to remove the pop-ups.
Furthermore, I would suggest you send a request to our product developer. This way, they can consider adding it to the next program update.
Here's how:

I don't have those options. There is no edit button/icon. I am using quickbooks online.
Hello there. I appreciate you clearing out the product confusion on my colleague's end. I have here some details to share about the displayed ads in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
These ads are designed to guide and suggest how you can optimize your QBO experience. Currently, we don't have the option to completely stop the ads from popping up. You can continue using the X or No, thanks buttons. This way, the pop-ups will keep from showing up again.
If you're using Google Chrome, you can follow this article to guide you on how to block the ads: Block certain ads.
Additionally, you can enable the pop-up blocker in your browser. I'll show you how.
Here's how for the Safari browser:

Same for me. I don't have the "edit" button in the Co profile.
You must be joking. Please read what you just told us to do. Why is Intuit putting the onus on us? WE PAY FOR QB. We should not be subjected to all of these ridiculous ads and "suggestions". I am telling you I will never recommend QB to anyone every again. STOP spamming your PAYING USERS!!!!
The original question is about QuickBooks Desktop. When you enable the preference "Turn off popup messages for products and services" Users still get annoying pop advertisements for Intuit products and services like the one attached. The questions really is, what is wrong with this company that it does not respect the wishes of their customers?
I hear your sentiments, @ernie1.
Providing the best experience with the product is what we aim for. We understand how important it is to turn off annoying ad banners in QuickBooks Desktop. What we can do is manually click the X button.
Additionally, you can submit product suggestions to our engineers to look into this issue. Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QuickBooks Desktop. We want your voice to be heard and put in action. Has the option to turn off popups been added for QBO? The popups are a nuisance and I have no use for them.
Thank you

Hi there, Redmon. I'll gladly share some insights about pop-up messages in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I recognize the importance of having the option to turn off the pop-up messages, however, this is currently unavailable in QBO. For now, we have no other way but to click the X button to close it. You can also utilize your browser settings. Here's how:
If you're using Safari browser, here's how to do it:
I also appreciate you sharing your ideas about adding this feature. We'd love to hear more of your insights regarding this so I recommend sending feedback to our product developers. This way, they can further review which parts of the program need enhancements and consider adding them to future updates. Please refer to the steps below:
You can also utilize this link to get updates about the status of your feedback: Customer Feedback page.

Let me know if you have other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'll be around to help in every way I can. Have a good one.
We need QBO to stop the popup ads. It is getting to the point that we are looking at other accounting programs because these popups are wasting our time. We are not on a free ad-driven subscription. We pay over $500 monthly and have been using QBO for over twelve years and do NOT want to waste time clicking the X to close popups!
This fix does not work for that stupid "try quickbooks online" popup you just added. WE GET IT, you have another program!..not turn that thing off!!!!
The cannot be stopped. So I switched. Why pay for a product that treats me like a product instead of a consumer. LOL
@Lawn_Care_LLCwhat company are you using now? I am actively looking. Had an issue, was chatting with someone with tech support and the support person was more interested in selling me upgrades than helping... an it turns out I know more about the software than they did... still haven't received a call back from the Supervisor - I am so done!
Given that this has been an on-going conversation with Quickbooks Desktop for 2 years now and we are still receiving the same advice from Quickbooks - turn off Pop Ups in Preferences - and everyone has confirmed this does not work, why are Quickbooks not responding with a sensible solution? I agree, it is time to change software - has anyone done the homework to recommend a better alternative?

It seems that Zoho Books is a good option. It has good reviews and it seems it can handle everything.
I've used QB today then a popup appeared from intuit without an X or any way of cancelling out of it. I've rebooted, changed permissions, to no avail. Using 2018 Desktop Pro (I know it's out of date). Any help appreciated. The popup shows immediately on launching the program so I can't go to preferences in QB.
