I am a Quick Books Self Employed and signed up for a free Turbotax for self employed bundle. How to use free tax filing for TurboTax self employed?

Hi there, @Anonymous.

When you upgrade your subscription with the Tax Bundle, you can e-file one state and one federal return without filing fees. I'll guide you on how.

QuickBooks Self-Employed helps you keep track of your self-employed income, so you'll be well-prepared for tax season. However, please note that the tax checklist isn't currently available. We'll let you know when it becomes ready to use. Once it is available, you can export your data directly to TurboTax Self-Employed, which saves time and reduces the chances of data entry errors. You can then review the data QuickBooks sent to TurboTax and begin the tax filing process.

For additional information about filing your taxes with the Tax Bundle, you can check out these articles:

For future use, here's a guide on paying your federal estimated taxes each quarter: Pay federal estimated quarterly taxes in QuickBooks Self-Employed,

Let me know if you have other concerns about your transactions in QuickBooks. I'm just one post away to help you out.

Let me share some insights about how the QuickBooks Self-Employed + TurboTax bundle works, @Anonymous.

The Tax Bundle is a subscription for both QuickBooks Self-Employed and TurboTax Self-Employed. This allows you to easily send your Schedule C data to TurboTax to file your taxes.

With the Self-Employed Turbo Tax Bundle, you won't have to pay the federal filing fees, and you'll also be able to file one state return at no additional cost. It comes for free with a subscription. For this to work, make sure to use the same username and password as you log in to both your QuickBooks Self-Employed and TurboTax Self-Employed accounts.

For more information about the QuickBooks Self-Employed + TurboTax Bundle, you can visit this article: QuickBooksTax Bundle and how to upgrade.

Additionally, I've added this resource if you want to review your tax profile in QuickBooks Self-Employed. This ensures that everything is up-to-date and your projected quarterly tax payment is correct: Review your tax profile in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'm always willing to lend a hand if you have other concerns about QBSE or TurboTax.  I'll keep an eye on your response.

You’re in the right direction about verifying how to file taxes without additional fees in the QuickBooks Self-Employed and TurboTax Self-Employed bundle, @Anonymous.

The QuickBooks Self-Employed and TurboTax Self-Employed subscriptions are combined into the Tax Bundle. With this, you can send your Schedule C data to TurboTax in an easy-to-use manner and file your taxes.

Since you’re certain that you’re using the correct and the same login credentials for both your QuickBooks Self-Employed and TurboTax Self-Employed accounts. I suggest contacting our Technical Support Team to allow our phone support investigate to why you’re asked to pay filing fees:

I did all of this and imported my data from QuickBooks, but it is still charging me when I go to file.
How do I get it for free when I went through the entire import process from QuickBooks to file? I confirmed I am subscribed to the tax bundle.

I am having the exact same problem. I've done everything that has been suggested and TurboTax still wants me to pay. I've spent one hour on the phone about this already with no reps knowing what to do or what I'm ever talking about. It's infuriating!

Hi there, @UGHQkbks.

I see how challenging it is on your end why you're unable to have the free tax filing in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) for TurboTax. Let me direct you to the best possible help.

Before anything else, we'd like to appreciate you for contacting our QBSE Care Team to find a fix.

Please know that, if you're new to the tax bundle subscription, you may have to pay the filing fee to have your federal and state tax forms filed.

However, if you've been using the tax bundle for at least six months and still received a message that you need to pay the fee, we recommend contacting our Customer Care Team again so they can provide you with the code to bypass the filing fees in Turbo Tax.

If not, we suggest contacting TurboTax Support to check why they still collect your filing fees.

You might want to learn what data doesn't export from QBSE to TurboTax Self-Employed: Why some deductions don't automatically export to TurboTax Self-Employed.

For additional questions about filing taxes using QBSE, leave a reply below. I'll be willing to lend a hand. Keep safe.

I am a Quick Books Self Employed and signed up for a free Turbotax for self employed bundle. How to use free tax filing for TurboTax self employed?

I was sent back to this post after spending over an hour on the phone again today!!! I literally already read all of this and commented last night. No progress at all in resolving this. All they’re telling me when I spend over an hour on the phone at TurboTax is that Quickbooks and TurboTax are actually not a part of the same company and the IRS doesn’t allow them to be combined? And therefore they cannot (so far) fix the filing fee problem… Why is there a product called Quickbooks Self-Employed Tax Bundle then? It literally combines Quickbooks and TurboTax! I’ve used it for the last four years and am on my fifth (definitely LAST year) of filing taxes this way. There is no way I will be paying for filing my taxes again when I already paid. Someone needs to fix this.

I hear you, @soycaveatemptor85. I'm here to help.

When you sign up for the TurboTax bundle and use TurboTax Self-Employed to file your returns, it should include the cost of state and federal filing and I can understand that you feel frustrated with the unresolved fee issue.

For this, it would be best to reach out to our Support Team again, as they are the ones who can best resolve the fee issue. Here's how:

  1. Go to Help (?) and select Contact Us.
  2. Note: If you’re using the QuickBooks Self-Employed app, tap the + button and select Ask QB Assistant.
  3. Enter “talk to a human”, then select Continue.
  4. Select which way you want to connect with us.
  • Have us call you - Get a call from a support expert.

Alternatively, you can also consider contacting our TurboTax support. You can refer to this link: Contact TurboTax.

Let me add this article as a tax guide when filing your annual taxes: QuickBooks Self-Employed annual tax guide.

If you need further assistance or want to add details of your concerns about the fees involved, we'll be here in the Community to assist. Stay safe.

Turbotax still wants to charge me $129 despite having taxbundle. They have given me multiple codes but none will reduce that charge. They now suggest calling you to resolve the situation. I use the same login for both turbotax and quickbooks.
Thank you

I wish you didn't have to experience this situation, @Jtlawrence2.

As much as I would like to help address this to reduce the TurboTax charges, know that it's the QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) Customer can access your account and determine why the code provided doesn't affect the amount charged to get one state and federal filing. You'll want to contact them again to sort this out and start utilizing the feature. Refer to this article for support availability: Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support.

In addition, here's an article to know more about why some data won't move to the tax bundle program: Why some deductions don't automatically export to TurboTax Self-Employed.
