I've purchased a QB Pro Desktop license so why do I have to pay for a yearly subscription?
I just got an email saying:
This second notice is to remind you that your QuickBooks Desktop 2018 software will be discontinued after May 31, 2021. To avoid service interruption and get security updates, you can upgrade your product.
I bought a license!
There are many issues that have not been fixed, the program has bugs that I've been told are not going to be addressed or fixed. Look up "How can quickbooks automatically autofill the transaction memo to the detail line memo?" on this site.
I only download 1 US credit card bank feed and the rest of my banks DO NOT WORK for downloading of foreign bank accounts because the US date format is backwards.
Why do I have to now, "Subscribe" for $200 a year? EVERY YEAR NOW???
I got your back, @DS57.
Service discontinuation policy means that your access to the add-on services (QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Services, Live Support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services) for QuickBooks Desktop Windows 2018 will be discontinued after May 31, 2021. Starting June 1, 2021, you'll no longer receive critical security updates. However, if you receive any updates after this date, you will need to install them immediately.

You don't have my back, you didn't read my post.
There are issues with QB pro Desktop; the current program has bugs and there's no indication the 2021 version will address them. Or will it?
Hello again, @DS57. I appreciate your input from every angle.
Downloading the newer version of QuickBooks Desktop (2021) fixes some issues. As if you keep your software up-to-date, you can have the latest features and fixes.

You do not have to subscribe every year for $200. That refers to a special option which gives you the newest version each year. You can still buy a single license good until add on features no longer are supported (3 years).
If your majority of banking is non US then.maybe you should consider the version for your country and its banking and forget about connecting the US based bank.
Connecting is not l its cracked up to be in any event
You may keep using your QBD 2018 for good as long as your OS on the computer supports it. As an additional option, you may consider using a converter app to import all of your bank transactions data into your QBD file later.
