The error code 80029c4a generally occurs when a company file has been corrupt or unable to locate when users try to open the software. To resolve this issue, I recommend updating QuickBooks to the latest release.

I'll be glad to help you fix error code C-272 in QuickBooks Desktop, Paola02.

 

I've listed below the causes of QuickBooks error message C-272:

 

  • The error can be seen due to data damage.
  • Running a memorized report that was created in an earlier version of QuickBooks and didn't convert properly.
  • can occur when 1099 and W2 forms are printed.

 

To resolve the error, you can open the QuickBooks sample company file. Here's how:

 

  1. Press and hold the "Ctrl" key.
  2. Whenever the “No Company Open” window appears, release the “Ctrl” key.
  3. If the error code occurs before the “No Company Open” window appears, then proceed to the next step.
  4. Click Open a sample file and select a Sample file from the list.
  5. Click on the Open sample file option and then click Sample file from the list.

If the error arises when opening the sample company file, proceed to the next step to disable Windows compatibility mode. Here's how:

 

  1. Right-click the QuickBooks shortcut icon.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  4. Unmark the checkbox that says Run program in compatibility mode and click OK. Then Cancel. If that checkbox is not selected, Disable the Windows compatibility mode setting for the QBW32.EXE.file.

Here are the steps:

 

  1. Right-click the QuickBooks icon and click on Properties.
  2. Click the shortcut tab and click Find Target.
  3. Right-click QBW32.EXE and click Properties.
  4. Click the Compatibility tab.
  5. Clear the checkbox the Run this program in compatibility mode for and click OK.
  6. Click Cancel if that checkbox is not selected.
  7. Close the Windows and the QuickBooks Desktop shortcut properties window.

 

Now you have to Open QuickBooks and your company file.

Let's make sure your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software is updated so you can get your F1 key and Help menu work and have the latest features and product improvements.

 

An outdated QBDT software will prevent you from utilizing some of its features. A good example of this is you're unable to use keyboard shortcuts, like the F1 key or selecting the Help menu to access the QuickBooks Desktop Help page. With this, you'll have to update QBDT to its latest release. You can do this either manually or by setting up auto-updates. If you wish to do a manual update, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to Help and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select Update Now, then select Get Updates.
  3. When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks.
  4. When asked to install the update, select Yes.
  5. When the install procedure finishes, restart your computer.

I am locked out of Quickbooks online.  I have tried everything suggested.  It just sends me around in circles. I can't take it anymore. A person needs to help me.     I lost use of the original login  email address and  the program will not allow me access through my other email even though I had set it up as a recovery email.  .  I have an Turbo Tax account  but it won't let me use that log in to access the Quickbooks Online.

If your QuickBooks Online account is locked out, you'll get the following message: Too many invalid attempts, the account is locked out for 15 minutes. 

 

You can attempt to sign in again with a phone number, email, or user name after 15 minutes.

Let's go over some troubleshooting steps so you can open your QuickBooks seamlessly, Marylou520.

 

Before we begin, allow me to provide some of the causes of the error. 

 

  • The QuickBooks desktop file/files are corrupted, missing, or damaged.
  • There is corruption in the Windows registry.
  • QuickBooks component doesn’t start properly or the DLL files are missing or corrupted.

 

Some antivirus programs accidentally block the desktop program from loading essential files. To move past the error, let's check the area of your QuickBooks that lists blocked files or sometimes called your “quarantine”.  

 

If you see any of the following listed below in your quarantine, make sure to give them permission to go through your firewall. Usually, these files are located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks (year). Files with (x86) in the location, such as C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX, are 64-bit versions.

 

If you continue to get the same result, you'll have to uninstall and reinstall the program files causing 80029c4a. I suggest you create a backup copy of the company file to prevent accidental loss. 

 

Once done, let's go ahead and uninstall your QuickBooks. Here's how:

 

  1. Open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Search for “Control Panel” and open Control Panel.
  3. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  4. From the list of programs, choose the version of QuickBooks Desktop you wish to remove.
  5. Select Uninstall/ChangeRemove, and then Next.

 

If you don’t see this option, sign out and sign back into Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights). After performing these steps, you can reinstall your QuickBooks. Head to Step 2 in this article for detailed instructions: Reinstall QuickBooks Desktop.

It says i have to resubscribe.  I am being charged for it monthly so there is not resubscribing. 

I had access to a regular Quickbooks online. 

 

I was also on my businesses Quciblooks teaching program which I used (and paid for)  with my own quickbooks program.

If you're trying to restore a backup you've already created, you can do so from your Open or Restore Company screen.

 

Here's how:
 

  1. In the top menu bar, go to File, then Open or Restore Company.
  2. Choose Restore a backup copy and click Next.
  3. Pick Local Backup, then hit Next.
  4. Browse your computer for the backup company file.
  5. Once you've found it, highlight your file and press Open.
  6. Select Save. If you see any messages about possibly overwriting data, use the option that best fits your needs. Don't overwrite anything unless you know you want to.

 

If you see a message saying "Your data has NOT been restored if you failed to enter the correct admin password" while trying to restore a backup file, use our Automated Password Reset Tool to reset your password. Afterwards, you can try restoring the backup again.
