invoice item number missing

I have an invoice in Dec of 2020 and the items numbers are missing.

the quantity, pack size, description, price and amount are all still there.

I have used QB for over 20 years and have never seen this before.

these are assemblies. I have the newest version of enterprise, updated. running on win 10

the invoice is 9 pages long.

any one seen this before? I will re-enter the invoice, but what happened?

I went into the audit trail and no jumped out, I guess I will try a rebuild.

I appreciate your loyalty to QuickBooks, @DavidHS.

I’m here to help you get through this obstacle. Uncommon issues within your company file can be easily verified and fix in running the Verify Rebuild utility tool. I'd be glad to show you how:

To Verify:

  1. Go to the Window menu and select Close All.
  2. Then, go to the File menu.
  3. Select Utilities.
  4. Click Verify Data.

To Rebuild:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Rebuild Data

You can also check this article for more details about the process: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

If there are no issues found within your company file, I suggest running our QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub. This scans your software for issues and resolves them right away.

Once everything looks good, you might want to check this article that provides detailed steps on how to personalize your invoice: Use and customize form templates.

In case you have any other concerns or follow-up about your invoices, you can always share them with me. I’ll be more than happy to work with you again. Have a wonderful day ahead and keep safe.

In this kind of situation, I recommend contacting our support team. They have the proper tools where you can have screen sharing in a safe environment to resolve and identify what’s causing this issue.

  3. In the Have a Question window, click the Contact Us link.
  4. Then, select any topics.
  5. Under Here's how to connect with a QuickBooks expert section, click the Get Phone Number button.

Before doing so, please review our support hours to ensure your issue gets addressed right away. Please note that we've made some changes to our support options for QuickBooks Desktop. I have also received the error "VRI: Display Index issue found. It is fixed during rebuild. This was listed in the "Errors we couldn't fix" section of the rebuild report. The only other item in that unfixable section was Memorized report recnum 229 was deleted.

Also in the "Errors we fixed section, this same report [Memorized Report recnum 229] said it contains corrupted formatting data, as well as "340 -- This memorized report must be deleted.

What is the VRI error, and what is corrupted formatting data?
