Join nowMy QB file locks up when I try and reconcile my account. How do I fix this? I've reloaded QB to my computer and ran the diagnostic tool. No luck.
Welcome to the Community, @js2020.
Your QBWUSER.ini file may be missing, thus the reason why QuickBooks Desktop stops working. If this is the case, you can resolve this by renaming the file. Once you rename the file, it'll erase the list of your previously opened company files. You'll need to re-open your company file manually.
Here's how to rename the file:
You can refer to this article for more details: What to do if you can't open QuickBooks Desktop.
If the issue persists after renaming the file, you can run the clean install or create a new Windows Admin User as suggested in the link.

Sadly that didn't work. I can input entries and pull reports. I just can't reconcile. It completely locks me up when I try and reconcile. Doesn't give me my option to add balances, etc. I have to reboot to get out. I reinstalled my program, still nothing. Thoughts? Thanks.
Thanks for getting back to us, @js2020.
To isolate this, we can reconcile using a sample file. If QBDT didn't lock up, let's run the rebuild and verify data utilities. These tools clean, repair, and notify you of data damage within the file.
Here's how:
Once done, you can proceed with verifying the data:

Once done, try reconciling again to double-check.

Still no luck. My file seems to be working perfectly otherwise. Just the locking up when I try and reconcile. It doesn't shut down, just locks up. It's so strange. It was working perfectly then just stopped. Is there maybe a read-only option that might make this happen? Thanks.
