Quickbooks desktop MAC and Monterey?

There's no need to install Monterey to install QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac 2022, @Implant.

The minimum system requirements for QBDT for Mac 2022 is at least Mac OS X v11.3 (Big Sur) or later.

You can also check out this link for more details about this: System requirements for QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022.

In case you want to learn some tips in managing your QBDT, you can check this link for reference. This contains steps that can guide you in your future tasks: QuickBooks Desktop Mac User’s Guide.

Whenever you have follow-up questions or concerns about QBDT for Mac, please let me know in your reply. I'll be here always ready to answer them for you.

Quickbooks desktop MAC and Monterey?

I have Quickbooks Mac2012 and upgraded my Mac in January that runs Monterey. I tried to install the quickbooks using the CD and I received a message that says Mac2012 won't run on this version of Mac. What can I do?

I can help you with what you need to do with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac 2012, @CakeMaker60. Thus, you can install the software seamlessly.

I'll have a way to correct the issue you've encountered in installing the QBDT for Mac 2012.

QBDT for Mac 2012 is already outdated. That's why you can no longer run on your Mac with the Monterey version. With this, I'd recommend updating your account to the latest release. Before that, ensure that your computer meets the systems requirements

Once confirmed, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks Download page.
  2. Select your CountryProduct, and Version in the drop-down arrow.
  3. Click Search, then Download

After that, open QuickBooks and follow the on-screen instructions to install the program. Ensure to create a backup of your company file for future use.

To get Product and License numbers, I'd advise contacting our Customer Care Team. Make sure to contact them within business hours to ensure a swift response.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this QBDT Help link.
  2. Select your product and click Continue
  3. Enter your concern in the box and tap Continue
  4. Choose either Chat with us or Have us call you.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

@CakeMaker60

You need to have QBD 2019-2022 to run on Monterey. You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2019-2021 to upgrade your version from some partners if required. Install the trial version of it to make sure it works on your machine.

Thank you for joining the thread, @PhantomGirl.

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac Plus 2022 can work with the M1 chip. Please know that the M1 chip is currently working on the 2022 version only. But our product engineers are already working on including it in the other versions.

You might also want to visit this link to know what's new in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac Plus and its system requirements.

Please keep in touch if there's anything else I can do to help you succeed with QuickBooks. I've got your back, @PhantomGirl.

Mark_R - I'm using a Mac with an M1 chip running Quickbooks 2019 for Mac, version v18.0.14 R15, Build 3478. Are you sure that QuickBooks Desktop for Mac Plus 2022 doesn't support the M1 chip? Why would a 2019 version of QB support M1 Macs while a 2022 version doesn't?

I am on Quickbooks 2019 and I have been able to get the software to work in macOS 12.3.1.  If have the computer that it will run on like macOS 10.15.7 Catalina you can update that version on that machine.   Copy out the quickbooks 2019.app in the Applications folders.   Once you have macOS Monterey running just copy over the file into the applicaitons folder.    You will have to register the application online.   I don't know after May 2022 that it will work to register it.

I don't mind paying a reasonable fee $100 a year or something to keep current but $350 is just too much.   I'll keep an old computer around just to run Quickbooks until I can find something that will work.

I would like to upgrade to Monterey, but am finding conflicting information.  I'm using QBDT 2020 for Mac.  According to QB website R14 is available, however, when I check for updates on my Mac I get a message that I'm up to date:

QuickBooks 19.0.11.988 R12.1 is currently the newest version available.  Is 14 available?  How/where do I get it? Thanks

@larsofbatavia

QBD 2016 for Mac doesn't support Monterey. Utilize the trial version for QBD 2019, 2020 and 2021 for Mac to upgrade your version for the time being. You can decide later whether to purchase a one-time license for QBD 2020 or wait for the upcoming release of QBD 2023.

@michellecof

Afaik Monterey 12.5 was released in July when QBD 2019 has outdated. Consider buying QBD 2022 immediately to upgrade your files for $275 or less. Otherwise you will buy QBD 2023 at a higher rate next month (i.e. $550)

I can help you with opening your company file, @michellecof.

QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2019 R13 and later versions work well with macOS 12 Monterey. To open the company file successfully, update your QuickBooks for Mac to the latest release

Here's how to perform the in-product update:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks dropdown and select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  2. If a newer version is available, select Install Update.
  3. When prompted, select Install and Relaunch.
  4. Once done, QuickBooks for Mac automatically opens.

If you'd like to update it manually by uninstalling QuickBooks for Mac and reinstalling the latest version, check out this article: Update QuickBooks for Mac to the latest release. That'll guide you on how to restore your company file right after.

To know more about the latest improvements, and fixes that were made to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2019, refer to this article: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2019.

In case you're still having an error, try running the verify and rebuild tools. This will scan your company file for errors or data damage and then fix any errors or data damage that's found: Verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

I'll be right here if you need further help opening your company file. Stay safe and have a great rest of the day!
