QuickBooks ALERT: Set up an Intuit account within 28 days

I won't get into how I think this is wrong on multiple levels and how I think Intuit will lose customers, and how I think you have an impending class action lawsuit coming.. so I will just ask my questions.

From the little research I could find, this was only introduced in QuickBooks Pro Desktop R12, however I have R11 and I still have this warning.. so my questions are as follows.

-What if you use a Desktop Pro version before 2019 R12, where the mandate seemed to be added?

-What about version 2018?

-What if you are using 2019 R12 and later, but you do not use any online services, such as payroll. If you refuse to create an account in this case, what will happen?

Thank you for your input!

QuickBooks ALERT: Set up an Intuit account within 28 days

I'm here to give the help that you need, user98723.

Access to add-on service after May 31, 2020, will be discontinued for QuickBooks Desktop for Windows 2017. This includes all versions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Enterprise Solutions 2017.

However, if you don't use any of the add-on services in QuickBooks Desktop 2017, your product will continue to work for you. You can update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release so you'll still be able to work with QuickBooks and have the latest features and fixes.

Also, access to Payroll Services, Live Support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services through QuickBooks Desktop 2017 software will be discontinued after May 31, 2020. This also means you'll no longer receive critical security updates starting June 1, 2020.

QuickBooks ALERT: Set up an Intuit account within 28 days

I don't believe your answer applies to my inquiry. Please review the following update released by Intuit. Many people are upset and confused by this, and I'm looking for some clarity.

Requirement: Currently, QuickBooks Desktop users will find an Intuit account is mandated for the following scenarios:

When a new QuickBooks Company file is created.

For QuickBooks Desktop users with the following connected services: Payments, Payroll direct deposit, TSheets time tracking, Payroll Workforce, Receipt Management (new for QuickBooks 2021), and more to come.

ACT QUICKLY! When an existing QuickBooks Desktop Company file is opened using the Admin credentials, and no Intuit account is associated with the file, the QuickBooks user will be prompted to login or create an Intuit account. Pro and Premier users may choose to delay this action for up to 28 days and QuickBooks Enterprise users up to 42.

QuickBooks ALERT: Set up an Intuit account within 28 days

Hi user98723,

This update was released for QuickBooks 2018 in April this year, R15.

About choosing not to have an Intuit account, there haven't been any guidelines for this scenario. You may choose not to sign in or create an account for 28 days, as stated in the article. After that, you'll be asked to create one again. That's the only clear thing I can share with you right now.

Putting myself into your shoes, I understand that this may seem not applicable to you right now, so you may choose to delay the creation. Personally, I'm also anticipating more updates about this.
