I recently purchased the license for QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022. It seems like there's a radically different method to the way the software has been built compared to Mac Desktop 2016 and Mac Desktop 2019. And what I'm experiencing is unbelievably frustrating. Drastic 15 second pauses with nearly every single thing I do. For example. I'm trying to now to work through roughly 100 downloaded transactions for one month's bank statement, and naturally I need to add the Payee and Account for each item before hitting the 'Add Multiple' button. In versions past this would be a very rapid process, probably 5 minutes for 100 transaction. Now, after each line, I am paused with a spinning beach ball that requires 15 seconds downtime. For each line! So what should take close to 5 minutes will take more than 30. This is not tolerable. Either there is a preference that I can adjust to get out of this mess (I'm all ears) or there are some critical fixes that need to be addressed in an update. My experience so far is not good.
I know how much you want to work faster, and I'm here to help fix system latency issues, @ThatsNoMoon.
Latency issues in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac may be a result of a damaged company file. In your case, we can rebuild it to fix this. Before that, let's update the system to the latest release (R5.1) to enhance its functionality and fix loading issues. There's no need to adjust your preferences. You can also check the system requirements we provide for QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus 2022.
Then, let's run the Verify Data:
Let's now rebuild it:

Thanks I did as you suggested but that didn't seem to help.
I went to utilities > verify data and was shown the alert: ** verify data detected errors **
So then I went to utilities > rebuild data, after which I was shown another alert: An error occurred while making your changes
Next, I saw an alert that said Reload and rebuild has completed.
Next, after Quickbooks rebooted it again showed me an alert: An error occurred while making your changes
And the performance issue persists. Please help me with what's next @Jovychris_A Thank you.
Hi there, @ThatsNoMoon.
I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support since you get the same result. They can help investigate why you're still unable to back up your company file.
Here's how:

Please let me know if you have other questions related to QuickBooks. I'm always here to help you.
Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem and it's awful.
Thanks,
Did you ever get this fixed? I'm having the same problem and it is terrible!
Did you upgrade data from an older version? If the error message still persists after running the verify/rebuild data utility, you should chat with Support and ask the Data Services to check your file. Otherwise, you will have to contact a third-party service provider.
Hi there, @kenksongs.
I'm here to help share how you're able to work with the best experience in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
First off and if you haven't yet, can you confirm if the troubleshooting steps mentioned by my colleague above is performed already?
Let's continue our troubleshooting steps so you can get back to business and work with QuickBooks accordingly. This way, we can determine why your program is performing unexpectedly slower and resolve it.
To begin, let's download and make sure to install the latest released version of QuickBooks for Mac. Let me show you how.
But if you're still unable to transfer and upgrade your file even after following the steps above, consider manually updating QuickBooks with the steps outlined in this article: How to Keep QuickBooks for Mac Up-to-Date?.
However, if you're already working with the latest released version, it's best to offload QuickBooks by clicking Move to Trash on your desktop. Then, follow the second set of steps in this article and restart your iMac: How to Clean Install, or Uninstall QuickBooks for Mac?.

Thanks for the quick reply. I ran the verify and rebuild and it seems to have worked. All is good for now. Thanks again.
I can rebuild the data and it works ok until I exit out and come back. Same problem again. It is horribly slow and inefficient. Terrible!!
Hi there, @tmorrow. I want to ensure you'll be able to use your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac without any issues.
Thanks for sharing the steps you've made as well as the result.
To start, let's first ensure that your program is updated to the latest release to have the recent components and fixes.
Once done, close and re-open QuickBooks and check if you still encounter the same thing. If yes, I highly suggest reaching out to our Customer Care team to further investigate what causing your program to run slow. They can also provide additional steps to help resolve the issue. Here's how:
Let me know updates on how this goes. I'd appreciate any details you can provide. If you have any other questions about managing your QuickBooks account, please don't hesitate to post again here. I'm always ready to lend a hand. Have a great day ahead.
I had exactly the same issue when I downloaded the new 2022 for Mac QB (reluctant download, but had to due to 2019 no longer supporting banking/transaction downloads). I had downloaded transactions, each was taking 4-6 seconds to save - ughh!
I tried all the above suggestions, plus upgraded OS from Big Sur to Monterey (the first recommendation by Intuit help - but it made no difference). Called again, and after 20 mins of trying many other things, I was asked to disconnect/ re-set up my online banking (through Edit Account / online settings) ... then signed up again. It worked!
Add me to the list of extremely frustrated users. I am a long time user of QuickBooks Desktop. I DON'T need QBO. I am a small business single user! When I first downloaded QBD 2022 I experienced the painfully slow performance. Calls to support were totally useless. Telling me that my CPU maybe slow or I do not have enough RAM!.
I have a Mac Book M1 with 16GB running the latest release of Monterey and the latest updates of QBD V21.0.7 R8.2 Build 1244.
I have Verified Data, Rebuilt Data, Condensed Data. I am DONE!!
Where do I go from here? Every transaction entry takes a good 5 to 10 secs to post. What nightmare!!
@IntuitBrooksAny insight?

I'm still having the same issues as well. It's awful. I build and rebuild data all the time and nothing helps. Quickbooks, you are a better company than this. Your Team needs to figure this out!
This is the kind of software written by outsourced child labor. I have the same frustrating spinning ball lasting up to 30 seconds per transaction. I was never impressed by the Quickbooks codeing quality and now it's evolved to be generally unusable. I upgraded to 2023 thinking that Quickbooks would improve their product and I'm VERY disappointed. Time to look for alternatives.
Has anybody heard anything at all? I hate to say that Intuit's customer support just seems to get worse and worse. This problem has been around ALL year and yet nothing from them. Th usual bull about, "Gee, make sure you have all the updates, maybe it's your system, etc. etc." just doesn't cut it. We're all savvy computer users and we don't need vague answers.
What's the alternative?? Tell me! Migration will be another nightmare. I believe Intuit wants us all to go the subscription model so that they can be sloppy with software releases. Not that QBO is any better!
I come from that world and I know how software developers work!! I see it right now with Adobe and others. Just keep making you update every other week. So what if there is a bug!! All they need to do is issue a fix and make you update. Completely at their mercy.
Please know that I hear you, and I want to help, Jagi.
Having a reliable program is very important especially if you're doing business.

Developers prefer to offer cloud-based accounting apps nowadays. No more deals with cracked licenses and steady revenue streams from subscriptions.
I reached out in early 2022 (I believe) and then gave up!! Your support is for 90 days at no cost, I think. Now when I reach out, are you going to charge me? And how much?
Hi, @Jagi, I appreciate you for sharing your experience with us.
Please know that this is not the kind of service we want you to have. I understand the importance of having fast-performing software in managing your transactions. This would totally make your work a lot easier.
To answer your question, charges depend on the issue with your subscription to QuickBooks Dekstop (QBDT). Either it's the Care plans or the Payroll Services monthly fees.
If you choose the QuickBooks Care plan you can get unlimited access to support. Here's an article for more details: Care Plans for QuickBooks Desktop. This includes the different benefits, plan options, and charges for your supported versions of QuickBooks.
You can also find answers to many of your questions by visiting our QuickBooks support site.
You can always get back to us if you have QuickBooks-related issues. We're always here to help. Take care and have a good one!
My question did not get answered. If I want you folks to help me resolve your performance issue, what is it going to cost me? All I got was that you want me to sign up for some Care plan. ?????
The message I got from AileneA was that I should go to Help and select Contact Us And then describe my problem.
There isn't a "Contact Us" option under Help on my installation of Quickbooks. Am I missing something?
If there is a on-time support charge I am willing to pay, IF it's my problem. From what I see and ALL of the posts here, this is an Intuit problem with QBDT performance. All of the suggestions from Intuit is to do all of the things I have done, such as verify, condense, etc. They haven't made a difference.
So please tell me what you would like me to do.
As a fellow community member, I can only help with this one. Please don't be mad at me 8)
Do you have any insight for his issue?
@Fiat Lux-Asia
I'm not mad at you:)))) Just kinda frustrated that I am not being productive with QBDT.
One thought I had was to uninstall QBDT completely and re-install. What do you think? Is it worth the trouble?
Incidentally, when i updated to QB2022 early this year (on my new Mac M1), I found that it would not open my company data file. I had to go to my backup (several times) to find it and open it.
